I live in Florence. I don't know what you are talking about? If people want to move thier kids to other programs, thats fine, but start at 6th grade, not 9th. And people should not pretend to be developing kids for one program, when they are really planning on moving to another. Kids that play in a feeder program should be committed to that school. That is the way Ryle and Cooper both do it and parents are asked to put that in writing. It is not equitable to have high school coaches active in the development of their competion.

Looks like it is time to do the annual debunking of the "dynasty" delusions.

 

If we are defining dynasty as winning state titles, that ended on Yeagle's watch, not after it. Yeagle's last 6 seasons = one state title. The 90's were an amazing run and that truly was a dynasty. But that was a long time ago and it ended well before Coach Rash took over. The fact is, Beechwood has been better in Rash's first 6 seasons than they were in the 6 seasons just before Rash under Yeagle.

 

I am not speaking to Coach Rash here but rather Coach Yeagle. I wonder what effect Coach Yeagle's health issues had on the program as a whole during his last six seasons?

 

Voice, I obviously think a lot of your opinion and I am wondering if in another thread we could put this up for debate but that thread would have to include details about the final game of the season each year for Beechwood. It would be really nice to start with the year Yeagle took over until the present. Any chance you have access to that info?

Start a thread about loyalty and committment, post your thoughts there and I would love to discuss that there. In fact, I would love to hear your views on that topic and see what the rest of the posters on here have to say as well. But I am done with this discussion in this thread. You are correct. Parents (most) want the best for their children. A long time ago, I didn't like the elementary school in my son's district, so I applied to get him in Beechwood. They rejected him due to capacity issues, so I sent him to Blessed Sacrament instead. It all worked out very well and he is very happy. I was just glad that I had the freedom to send him to a great out of district school such as BW or BS.

It would take some digging. The tough part is of course tieing in Coach Yeagle's health issues, their impact and how involved he was in those last 6 years.

 

If we are going to include the 90's, it isn't fair to include anyone in a comparison. Compare Dale Mueller in the 90's to Yeagle in the 90's. If we look at last games and those results, Yeagle wins very clearly. That was a special time in a different era with different factors playing in all around.

 

I guess the key questions are:

 

Could Beechwood do that again?

Should fans expect that?

Should fans be disappointed if Beechwood does not perform to that level?

Is it a failure by the coach if they don't achieve that level?

Should performing to that level be a requirement to keep your job as coach?

Another question could be, "State championship or not, does a young man benefit from the Beechwood experience?"

Nothing wrong with Beechwood. They have had nice runs in the past and they will again. Mayfield is having a nice run but they won't beat Beechwood forever. It will be interesting after Jackson leaves but there is a nice bunch of good atheletes on the way up. I look for BW to develope their players as the season moves on and be a threat for the title.

Mayfield coming down, has been the kryptonite to the Tigers.

I love these perks! I'm hopeful that the next perk will be dinner on VOR's tab. Just another reason why it is hard not to pull for the Tigers in all but 1 game a year. I have come to like a good many of the Beechnuts. Same thing with Danville, I still pull for the Ads in AA largerly from the friends made over the years. My only regret is that I miss not being able to give you guys as much crap now that I know some of you.
