Davis getting injured last year was a huge blow to the passing game. With the depth BW had last year, there was only one position that they couldn't afford an injury - QB - and that is exactly what happened.

 

QB is going to be very interesting for Beechwood this year. I have no clue what will happen there.

 

I concur. I would not be surprised to see the "Wildcat" on several occasions. That could change if a "passer" emerges from the depth charts.

Barring injuries its Mayfield in 1A. Beechwood may have a tough time with FF but if they get better as the season moves on and other teams have injuries, BW will be in the thick of it.

Hazard might have something to say about that, i hope they get the memo this year, remember, last year someone forgot to send them the memo that Mayfield just had to walk on the field and the game was over! And further more, maybe Mayfields radio announcer wont announce after the semi-final game that (this was the State Championship) assuming we get that far! Love my Cardinals, but lets not start counting our chickens before the eggs are even laid, much less hatched!

Yes, getting back to BW. I have dates for BW playing SK again in the Skyline Showdown and games against Bellevue and Ludlow. Does anyone know the rest of the BW schedule? Ok, Pick and Snot. Let's pencil in BW and Mayfield on each others schedule as well for now so we have something to talk about for the summer.

IMO, not much to learn. Hazard won that game because Jackson was hurt. He wasn't even close to the player in that game that I have seen the last couple of years.

 

I do see irony in that because personally I feel Beechwood lost the Mayfield game because Davis was hurt, although that is not nearly as clear cut as the Mayfield / Hazard game.

What sort of kicking and punting game will they have? The kid last year was very good and I am guessing he flipped the field for the Tigers in many of the games in the pasts.

TP, at my age the recent memory goes back to the first of the year. Beyond that I can't help you with an answer.

I think the Tigers "great run" is over. Truly I think it ended with Coach Yeagle. Beechwood is always solid in football, but Mayfield coming down, has been the kryptonite to the Tigers.

I must ask if "great run" is defined by state titles? To me, winning most of your games including many against higher classes along with playing every Thanksgiving weekend ain't too shabby.

That is what I would say....especiallly now that there are six crowns when before there were 4. Don't get defensive, Beechwood is still a power, but they ain't bringin' back the crowns like they used to. That is a simple fact. They have dropped a bit, that's all. It happens.

I personally am not a fan of diminishing a team's win because the other team had an injured player that may have or may not have changed the outcome of the game. I bet every team that played in the State Championship game had injuries. Hazard has the trophy, that's all that matters.
