Beechwood will have to replace around 20 Seniors.

Yep, going to be one of the most interesting Beechwood seasons in quite a while.

What do they need to improve? IMO ... passing game. That is what they need to beat Mayfield.

They had a great Freshman class they will be fine.

I think that Beechwood will all ways be fine. But I think that they are looking for State Titles.

Very few sophomores get playing time at Beechwood. Too much depth and dedication that pays off for upperclassmen in PT. You have to be a very gifted player to get PT and even then the PT for a sophomore is limited. There will probably be a couple sophomores that will get PT and that will be it.

I'm sure Bwood will be fine! They just reloaded the heavy artillery at that school and then go on their annual big game hunt. They have been one of the most consistent programs in the state in the last 25 or so years and I doubt that next year will be anything other than business as usual. I am already looking forward to a upcomming Thanksgiving trip to visit the Beechies with my Jackson led Cardinals on his senior fairwell campaign. A year older, bigger and stronger Jackson vs a year older, bigger and stronger Nussenbaum (Nasalbaum). However it is spelled for those who like to jump me over not knowing how to spell the kids unusal name. Anyway, I am already licking my chops thinking about that potential rematch.

I thought Bw made somewhat of a effort to develop a passing game last year but I think it takes more than a year of it to become fluent at it. When we started trying to developed one at Mayfield it took into the second season of running it to get kids to run it effectively. I think Bw will find the same holds true.

Oh no, here we go again:jump: Just kidding guys!

Nussbaum / Jackson will be a clash of the titans, both outstanding, hard nosed football players. IMO the line is where they lost the most, if they can develop some kids who didnt get many snaps last year, they will be hosting Mayfield come turkey holiday.

They did have an outstanding freshmen team last year, but as another thread pointed out, freshmen success doesnt equal state titles, but it is a step in the right direction.

We know pretty much what we will get with Nussbaum. What I am anxious to see is how effectively a healthy Gage Erdman and Junior to be Mitch Thomas will be used. Those three in the same backfield offer a triple threat of hitting a home run at any time. If the line can hold a block long enough then these three will be able to run........and I repeat, if the line can hold a block. Yes, it would be nice to have a passing game mixed in. Time will tell. The leg of Joey Nussbaum will also be missed. It's nice to know that you will almost always srart on defense at the opponent's 20 after a kickoff. That is a rarity in HS football.

Davis getting injured last year was a huge blow to the passing game. With the depth BW had last year, there was only one position that they couldn't afford an injury - QB - and that is exactly what happened.

QB is going to be very interesting for Beechwood this year. I have no clue what will happen there.

Beechwood is always well coached. The key will be to make those sophmores become juniors come playoff time. I like Mayfield's odds against BW this year but after that, the tide could turn somewhat.

It is always good to hear from our friends in Mayfield - TP, ss2000 ... here we go again, right guys?

I will say this year could be interesting in the playoffs. I think Frankfort is going to have a dynamite team if everyone is on board there and working hard. If the Tigers put it together and have their usual success, that could be a very challenging playoff game for BW. The one good thing for BW is Frankfort will finally have to travel to Ft. Mitchell. Everyone keep your eyes on the Frankfort Panthers. They could be this year's Hazard before it is all said and done.

Barring injuries its Mayfield in 1A. Beechwood may have a tough time with FF but if they get better as the season moves on and other teams have injuries, BW will be in the thick of it.
