I know I'm jumping ahead, but do we know yet which district winners play each other in the 3rd round of the playoffs, and which region winners play each other in round 4? Also, where are the state title games played this year?

I posted this in another thread a couple of weeks ago...

Teams will stay within their districts for the first two rounds, meaning playoff rematches of regular season games are guaranteed for round 1 and round 2. District championships won't be awarded until the conclusion of the 2nd round. Think of the first two rounds as a district tournament like we have in basketball and baseball.

Once the field is whittled down to the final eight teams, those teams will be reseeded within each semi-state using an RPI system.

The Quarterfinals would look like this...

West #1 vs. West #4

West #2 vs. West #3

East #1 vs. East #4

East #2 vs. East #3

The winners of those games would meet in the semis. Higher seeds host. No more alternating between odd and even years/districts.

Championship games are still in Lexington.

A little off topic but the KHSAA sent this out last night.

The Board also finalized the schedule for the 2019 state football finals on Thursday, accepting a recommendation to set the championship schedule at Kroger Field as follows:

Friday, December 6th – 1A – 2 PM, 3A – 7 PM

Saturday, December 7th– 2A – 1 PM, 4A – 4:30 PM, 5A – 8:00 PM

Sunday, December 8th – 6A – 2 PM

Who does the "seeding?'

Take a look at this thread Hearsay:

I think you have it right for the quarterfinals but from my interpretation, the semifinals will be highest remaining seed vs lowest remaining seed and second highest vs third highest, regardless of east or west.

After looking at it again, you're right. That makes three different seeding processes - district, third-round, and fourth-round.

That last re-seeding seems like one too many, but I'm willing to give this a chance before passing judgement.
