If anyone is interested here is brief recap of the game:

The game started all Birds. They took the wind to their back and dominated action. About 24 minutes into the 1st half, Caymon Stevie played a cross that Porter Hedenburg ran to, backtracked with a run, got CovCath CB to commit and slide. Porter avoided the slide tackle took a touch to his left and fired it the right of the goalie with his left foot. The Birds kept the pressure up, but couldn't get that all important second goal and we went to the half 1-0 Birds. CovCath got the wind in the second half. The wind intensified in the first couple minutes and so did the Colonels attack. Deimling, Darpel, Curk, and Kennedy kept the pressure up. The Colonels also move Stava deeper into midfield since clearances were all dying at about midfield. With his ability to pass and dribble, the Birds were in for a long second half.

However, it was the Birds that struck first in the second half in the 7th minute. Luke Schweitzer played a seeing eye through ball to Elijah Stevie who had made a deep run from midfield. Stevie kept his composure and slotted it past the goalie to put the Birds up 2-0. After that, the next 20 minutes were ALL Colonels. At about the 9th minute, a long cross from the Colonels left went through a gazillion players and Nate Darpel was there to pinball the ball in off of a couple of Birds to get the goal and make it a 2-1 game.

Wave after wave of attack ensued, but the Birds repelled them all. With about 13 to go, the Colonels momentum slowed and Highlands put together some dangerous counter attacks. That is how the rest of the game went. Birds 2 and the Colonels 1. #Doubledatetostate
