The Highlands Bluebirds baseball team received a taste of life in the big leagues last year and will do it again this year. The Bluebirds will face 9th Region arch-rival Covington Catholic in of two games that Friday evening at Great American Ballpark in the Cincinnati Reds Futures Games. Highlands Head Coach Jeremy Baioni said the times have not been finalized. But start times of 5 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. are two potential times. ColonelPops
That will be cool for all of the boys. Highlands is loaded once again. CovCath has a strong team as usual. Highlands will be going for 4 region titles in a row. When is the last time a team won 3 ? 4?
Bluerunner
I believe the only 9th Region Team to 3 peat was New Cath in '60, '61 and '62. I don't believe a team in the 9th has won 4 regional titles in a row. This is a cool experience for all the teams involved.
kinglouie
What an experience for the players from both teams! Can't wait to watch the game.
katbird
I hear Drew Rom is supposed to be drafted in the first 5 rounds of the MLB Draft. Good luck to any team that gets more than 1 or 2 runs off of Drew. Highlands pitching staff could potentially be the best ever from NKy imo... Ridiculous!!! Qryche11
I heard Cramer threw well at Tennessee...upper 80's. Also heard Sophomore LHP Collin Hollingsworth threw well at West Point last weekend. He was clocked on low 80's.

colonel-fan
Thread title is a little confusing. The CovCath-Highlands game is one game of two at GAPB, not a double header between the two teams?

PsalmsG
Correct, Colonel-fan. Highlands and CovCath will play just one game at GABP that evening. The other game will feature someone like Elder.
Bluerunner
This should be the 2 top teams in Northern Kentucky this season. Highlands pitching staff is loaded. We will see what Hollingsworth can do. Rom played summer ball with the Cincy Flames for years, Dreves with Midland. Not sure Hollingsworth even plays summer ball? A lefty throwing in the 80's needs that summer work. There is a difference between a pitcher and a thrower.

Or maybe it was another outfit but I know he played this summer. Hollingsworth I am not sure if he played. He has a strong arm and from what I have heard has 4 pitches. Circle change, fastball, slider and curve. Whether or not he is consistently getting the pitches over the plate I guess we shall see,
ABC2
Hollingsworth will be pitching for the Furry this summer.
