Colonels_Wear_Blue
A- The Redhounds had a very strong season in 2016 for having only made it to the semifinals. During the regular season they averaged 37 points per game, and only gave up a total of 12 touchdown, and their only loss was by 1-point to a solid Mayfield team. Their season was ended in a 42-17 defeat by the undisputed 3A champion Belfry Pirates. The biggest knock against Corbin in 2016 was for losing to a team from a lower classification - although Mayfield isn't just any 2A team. As far as losing to Belfry goes, well, in a lot of ways there's not much you can do about that one...Belfry has been rolling with a hell of a head of steam in the 2010's. Do you agree with a A- for Corbin? What grade do you give the Redhounds?
DevilMayCare
A- I agree with you @Colonels_Wear_Blue, the Redhounds had a great season, worthy of a solid A-. When your only losses are against blueblood programs like Mayfield and Belfry, you're doing alright. They fell just short of completing a tremendous comeback against Mayfield and put a good scare into Belfry before the Pirates woke up and came roaring back. Corbin did what most expected them to do in 2016.
ATLCat
A- IMHO they were the 2nd best 3A team. Their two losses really centered around a couple very key plays with a similar theme. Against Mayfield they went for two instead of the tie and failed, as a result losing 35-34. Against Belfry the Hounds had all the momentum late in the Third up 17-7 and chose to go for the TD instead of the easy FG, the trick play failed and Belfry took over. Could have been 20-7 heading into the 4th, but instead Belfry turned that turnover into a long TD and it was 17-14 and we know how the rest of the Quarter played out once Uncle Mo shifted. Corbin had a win over Louisville Central, a 28-7 win over a very good Danville, a 20-8 win over Southwestern (who at the time most thought was the best 5A team in the East), and a 42-6 win over 5A Whitley County who went 8-2 in the regular sason.
