Why are the Reds pitchers always injured?

Recommended Posts

Seems as if in recent years the Reds have had continuous issue with their pitchers being injured. Question is why?

Is it truly just dumb luck? Overuse at the lower levels? Overuse at the Major League Level? Improper care taken by the medical staff? Are the pitchers themselves responsible?

Remember the stuff Mat Latos said a few years ago? The organization took shots back at him, but never claimed he was wrong.

But also the 10-Day DL is being used a lot as well

Not sure what you're getting at with the but? Are you saying teams have injured pitchers they're not putting on the DL, and leaving active on their roster?

There is now a 10-Day Disabled list. Whereas the fifteen would cause a pitcher to lose 3 starts. The ten day with an off day causes them to lose only one. So teams will put pitchers on the 10-day list a lot faster than the previous 15-day list.

Yeah definitely wasn't because he was lazy, out of shape, and didn't want to do his rehab.

I think Latos was pretty good for us 33-16 over 3 years. 14-4, 14-7, and 5-5. ERA about a 3.3.

He said bad things about the team's leadership and medical personnel. No one ever came out and said that he was wrong. They just said they were glad he was gone.

Gotcha. I knew there was a 10 day list, just wasn't sure what you were saying.

This was predicted by the talking heads as a probability - not just a possibility - as soon as it was announced that there would be a 10-day disabled list.
