Inside the 14th Region - Week 7

Recommended Posts

1.Perry County Central (14-5):

The Commodores are running wild on everyone, Perry Central started their running streak when they ran through the mountain classic and the streak carried over to Powell County and Anderson County games. Perry Central defeated the Pirates 85-72 and defeated the Bearcats 80-74. Can the Commodoers keep the streak going this week when they play Letcher Central, Wolfe County and Casey County?

2.Knott County Central (10-6):

The Patriots started the season off on a heart start but have since took a wrong turn, losing 5 of their last 7 games. The Patriots will be home all this week but they won’t have any easy competition as they face the likes of Cordia, Johnson Central and Campbell County TN. Can the Patriots get things turned around or will they continue heading down the wrong road?

3.Cordia (7-5):

The Lions have made history once again, winning their second straight 14th Region All “A” Classic for the second time in school history. The Lions will advance to the KHSAA All “A” State Tournament next week at the Frankfort Convention Center. Their opponent will be out of the 9th Region All “A” Classic.

4.Letcher County Central (11-5):

The Cougars have hit a rocky road as of late going 4-3 in their last 7 games. Will the Cougars put a win streak together this week with the likes of Buckhorn, Perry central and Estill County on their schedule or will they hit a skid streak?

5.Powell County (13-5):

The Pirates are in sole position of the #1 seed in their district. The Pirates picked up a big 69-65 victory over #6 Estill County. Powell County led most of the game and led by as many as 7 but Estill County would make a run late and take a 5 point led but not enough as the Pirates would go on to win the game and go 3-0 in district play.

6.Estill County (10-5):

Engineers started the season off with one of the best starts in school history winning their first 4 straight games and going 8-2 into the Cumberland Falls Invitational Tournament but have since hit a hard spot losing 3 of their last 5 games including a heart breaking 69-65 loss @ Powell County. Can the Engineers re-group this week and get back on track or will the hard spot continue to grow?

7.Wolfe County (9-8):

Wolfe County had a rough start to the season, key injuries that sent the Wolves down the wrong road but now with everyone back, can the Wolves get back on the right path and make a run towards the end of the season and in district play?

8.Leslie County (10-4):

The Eagles have been soaring as of late, winning 3 of their last 4 games. 2 of those 3 wins have came against both Clay County and Hazard. Can the Eagles continue to soar or will their nest get disturbed?

9.Buckhorn (11-8):

Buckhorn had a rough start to the season losing 8 of their first 10 games but have since went wild on teams, winning 9 straight before falling to Cordia in the championship game of the 14th Region All “A” Classic tournament. Can the Horn keep this momentum going?

10.Hazard (7-8):

The Dawgs have hit a skid as of late, losing 4 straight countering their 5 game win streak. Hazard had a week off to prepare for this weeks’ opponents; Breathitt County; a team they already beat once this season, Pike Central, which will be the first meeting of the two. Can the Dawgs get back on the right track?

11.Breathitt County (10-8):

After taking only 1 out of 4 games in the Traditional Bank Classic @ LexCath, the Bobcats have put together a 3 game win streak but that was quickly vanished when they would fall to Wolfe County in the 14th Region All “A” Classic.

12.Jackson City (5-11):

The Tigers have lost 4 straight and 5 of their last 7 games.

13.Lee County (5-11):

After having a very difficult start to the season, Lee County seems to have anything going in the right way, winning 3 of their last 4 games, including 2 big district wins over Owsley County.

14.June Buchanan (1-12):

The Crusaders continue to struggle. After defeating Rose Hill Christian 55-54, the Crusaders have went on a 3 game losing streak.

15.Owsley County (2-14):

Owsley continues to struggle, they do have 2 wins but those two teams they’ve beat? Their combine record is 2-29…

16.Jenkins (1-11):

The Cavaliers ended their 11 game win streak and picked up their first win on the season when they defeated Rose Hill 74-73.

17.Riverside Christian (2-13):
