Bass Fishing, Republic Bank/KHSAA Tennis State Championships begin this week

State champions will be crowned in Lexington and Gilbertsville this weekend as the 2016 KHSAA Bass Fishing and 2016 Republic Bank/KHSAA State Tennis Championships get underway. The two-day State Bass Fishing Championship (May 13-14), with Calvert City serving as official host city, begins each morning with the boat launch from Kentucky Dam Marina at 7 a.m. Teams will start returning to the marina at 3 p.m. each day, with the weigh-ins scheduled to begin at approximately 3:30 p.m. The Bass Fishing weigh-ins will be webcast live each day at KHSAA.tv, courtesy of FLW.

 

During the State Bass Fishing Tournament, fans and competitors will have an opportunity to take part in the Fish Festival Expo at Kentucky Dam Marina from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day, with vendors, sponsor booths and activities for kids.

 

The Republic Bank/KHSAA State Tennis Championships begin this weekend (May 14-15) with the boys’ and girls’ team tournaments, and resume next week (May 19-21) with the boys’ and girls’ singles and doubles championships. The team competition gets underway Saturday, May 14 at 9 a.m. with matches played at both the Sayre School Tennis Complex and Shillito Park. The team tournament resumes Sunday morning at the Sayre School Tennis Complex with the girls’ semifinal matches at 9 a.m., followed by the boys’ semifinals at 10:15 a.m. The girls’ and boys’ team finals will take place at 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m., respectively.

 

Current brackets for the boys’ and girls’ team championships are available on the Tennis page at KHSAA.org, though several matchups are still to be determined with a handful of regional tournaments still underway.

 

The state tennis singles and doubles championship picks up Thursday, May 19th starting at 8 a.m. with the girls’ competition at Shillito Park and boys’ action at the University of Kentucky Boone/Downing Tennis Complex. The event continues Friday, May 20th starting at 8 a.m. with all competition taking place at UK.

 

The Republic Bank/KHSAA State Tennis Championships wrap up Saturday, May 20th, starting with the semifinals of the boys’ and girls’ singles and doubles championships at 9 a.m. The finals of the boys’ and girls’ doubles competition will begin at 12 p.m., followed by the championship matches of the boys’ and girls’ singles bracket at 2 p.m. Brackets for the state singles and doubles championships will be released early next week and available KHSAA.org.
