Franklin County guard Barrett Meyer and Lexington Catholic guard Taylor Botkin are headed to play basketball for the Pioneers. I want to thank Barrett for all the memories, I've watched you grow as a player since you were a young sprout. Congratulations and I am sure you will be a fantastic college basketball player.

Franklin County Offensive Lineman Oakley Watkins signed with Centre College today in the school's media center. He picked them over South Alabama, Texas A&M-Commerce, North Carolina Tech and preferred walk-on deals at UK and Troy. Watkins was 2nd team all-state while he maintained a 3.95 GPA.

Congrats to the Lady Flyers. Coach Spickard seems to have this team on a roll. Hampton is an absolute star on the mound.

Why are they not playing in the D1 tournament? This team is real impressive and has one a tournament and finished as runner-up in another. The Timmons kid is the real deal and Current ( Chris Currents younger brother) is a good youngster.

Franklin County catcher Madelyn Brown has signed with the Georgetown Lady Tigers. Congratulations Madelyn and I wish you the best. Thanks for all the memories on the softball diamond and the basketball hardwood. You're one the FC family will really miss. I believe she wants to major in Education.

Franklin County put on a great tournament this weekend. North Laurel is the real deal and are a great group of girls. They were very polite throughout the weekend and seemed like a very mature team.

If you make contact there is always a chance of getting on base especially with the overall team speed of the Flyers.

I believe this puts the Flyers as the only undefeated team in the state. Franklin County showed no nerves what so ever and just came to play baseball. I was very impressed with the teams speed with Clifton, Conner, McKee and Douthitt. Howard played well at short and made some big plays with the glove. Thompson is a man child on the mound and when he is throwing I believe the FLyers can beat any team in the state of KY.

Rutledge is around 6'5" or 6"6" he is long and rangy. He will be a player to keep an eye out for. He can shoot pretty good and is very atheltic. Potential Division 1 player.

Vance Hall from Franklin County should have made this list. Look for him to be a top player in the 11th region next year.

Will they make corrections?

Walz is a great young coach and coaches just like his idol Paul Sanderford. Angel McCoughtry was huge in the 2nd half. Becky Burke's 3's could not have come at a better time. Happy to see the KY girls such as Reid and Rucker contribute in the Cardinals Final Four win.

Avery has not signed LOI to Kentucky, he is far too young. Orton,Hood and Vilarino have all signed, while Konner Tucker has committed. All can still get out of their signings with a waiver, but I imagine they will meet with the new head coach. The new head coach will re-evaluate the verbals Gillispie received and make a decision based on that. Good luck to all of these young kids as it is a tough time in their lives.

Union has a pipeline at FC with the Hicks brothers now, Willie Smither, Larry Taylor and possibly Corey Craig. Good to see FC getting to the next level.

Congratulations to DeRon for signing with Union College last week in the school's media center. He will join his brother Demetrius. DeRon was District MVP and All-State Honorable Mention by the Courier Journal. DeRon has done a lot of things for the Franklin County program and I wish him nothing but the best.
