Both these teams are tough and that's what makes the 11th region so tough.

Don't see anybody really challenging Scott Co. for the trip to Rupp they seem to be on a roll.

Scott County was led by Dakotah Euton with 26 points and 10 rebounds. Ge-Lawn Guyn added 21 points. Richie Phares recorded 18 points and 11 rebounds.

Henry Clay was led by Prince Stewart with 20 points. Brandon Nichols and Marquel Johnson added 12 points each.

Prince Stewart, Brandon Nichols, Trey Stewart, and Brandon Wilder went on a steal and scoring frenzy to get within 6 with about 30 seconds to go.

 

A couple of controversial calls late that could have made it even closer. Henry Clay got a clean steal and the refs called a jump ball, which went back to SC. Also Gelawn should have received a technical for a flagrant foul late in the game. Before the ball was inbounded he just turned around, grabbed a Henry Clay player and threw him to the court.

 

Scott County is looking really good right now. And well they should with 4-5 D1 transfers on the team. But it will be tough to get out of the 11th (LexCath, Franklin Co, Madison Central, and even Henry Clay again. If they do, then some dangerous teams will probably await them in the sweet 16. (Holmes, Elliott, Shelby Valley, Mason County/Clark.)

Coach Hicks put 3 bench players in when they were up 15 with 2:30 left and left them in until 1 minute. Thay hadnt played since the 2nd quarter and did not handle HC's pressure well at all and allowed HC to get within 10. After that, he put the starters in and all was well. I was impressed with HC's heart and effort after coming back from being down as much as 23-24. Good win for SC!

Scott County led by 20with four minutes to go, Hicks pulled Jackson, Euton, and Manning. Henry Clay then went on a run to make the score a little closer. Hicks actually had to put the three back in as Scott had trouble with the full court press.

Jackson struggled tonight as he has been sick with flu all week.

The refs let Henry Clay foul and hold a lot late in the game. He was holding Guyn and he can't just let the guy stand there and hold him. It wasn't dirty.

 

Also who is the 4 or 5 d-1 transfers? Guyn, Euton, Jackson? Who else?

It was a very good game tonight. I was very impressed with HC. They shot the ball very well and their players really played hard. Prince Stewart is an excellent guard.

 

Scott Co. appeared to commit way too many turnovers tonight, which really hurt them. I thought Euton and Guyn both played very well tonight. The game was close at halftime, but after a very quiet 1st half Phares really stepped it up and was a big difference.
