I was not suggesting anything at all, only asking for clarification of another's post. Just wondered about the comment on cohesiveness, and if the poster had some inside knowledge or reason to question. I have heard that the O-Line is coming along nicely, so the post caught my attention.

Do you feel this is a concern at this time, or just an observation in general?

Coach Turner has worked some real magic with some of the O-lines he has put together, and I think all those close to the program have the faith that he can do it again. One thing that is looking to be a real positive is the two platoon system Highlands has in place. In the past, with many players going both ways, or at least preparing to go both ways, time was divided among O and D for each of those players. This year, the O-Line has worked on nothing but their primary positions. In talking with Coach T, he believes this is improving line play dramatically with all the reps they are getting. Secondly, I think the offensive game plan will be built around the total package of the offensive starters. Last year's play calling reflected the kind of team they had (line, receivers and backs) as a unit, and this year's play calling will likely be molded to fit. I don't know if that means the Jet Sweep is back, but that may be more suited to the personnel this year than it was last year. We'll see.

You are correct. He quit sometime between spring football and the end of school.

Thanks for clarifying. I have read in a few threads about the thinking behind the super class concept, and the ones that appear to be based on some arbitrary criteria are the most alarming. As for Highlands playing X or T more often, as LN pointed out, if Highlands can continue the two platoon every year, it may be more likely. I think it was '06 when Highlands played Elder, Louisville X and Columbus DeSales all in a row, and with the number of HHS players going both ways, it was a tough stretch.

Just so I understand your point, can I ask you how you would assign teams to a "super class?" If it is by male enrollment, then Highlands wouldn't be anywhere near the top. If it is as a result of historic success, then why wouldn't you also put the likes of Ft. Campbell and Beechwood (to name only a couple) in the super class? Is the purpose of a super class to segregate out the largest schools (theoretically those with the most athletes) or is it to just ensure that others don't have to compete with perenially strong programs? Or, is there some other system to allocate teams to this super class?

And vice versa! BTW - It is Highlands, with an "s" at the end.

I would say that you saw Henry Clay play last year, and will also watch them play your favorite team this year. To make a statement like the bolded one above, can you claim that you have ever, or in the last 4 years, seen St. X play? I can appreciate your enthusiasm for the play of Henry Clay, however, if you haven't seen X or T play, you are really missing a key point in the claim above.

Wow! That is some proclamation. They may be good, and even had a little success lately, and even have 6 projected D1 players, but to say they are THE top team in 6A is quite a stretch. Lastly, 4 players over 290 pounds means nothing if they can't move.

Surprising that you only named one player who can contain him. Isn't Powell supposed to be the featured running back next year, and if so, how much DB do you think he will play? If he doesn't play DB, who do you think will be able to cover him?

We may need to consider that he has been enrolled in the Bluegrass Preps Witness Protection Program, and cannot reveal his former identity!

Great question. I thought of voting, but then wanted to give it some thought. First question, how many schools in KY participate in football currently? Second question, for surrounding states, or big football states, how many classes do they each have, and how many total schools playing football? If someone has this information handy, it might contribute to rational thinking in the thread. Or not, but at least will give some reference.

So how do they start a project like this without enough funding to finish? I'm sure the BOE knew what to expect from revenue projections in this economy as well as projected project costs, so how does this happen? Is the old field still there, or has it been removed completely?

I seem to recall that there was an article on Dixie's O-Line last year, describing that they were all returning starters and Seniors. So, if that played out all year, they are likely looking at 5 new starters. Beyond that, I haven't heard or read anything about them.

Ryle is reportedly (according to other threads) returning some starters, if not most of their line. That has to be a strength for them. Can you confirm what they have coming back? I don't recall anything about Boone County from last year's game against Highlands. Again, as you may have some insight, what do they have coming back? Lastly, I seem to recall that Dixie's O-Line last year were all returning starters, which would indicate that they have 5 new names on the line this year. Who are the leading contenders?

A little touchy this morning, aren't we? So, to follow the logic of your explanation, as long as someone else besides Highlands "self-proclaims" his O-Line as the best, it is OK, but when Highlands does it, or replies to his post, it isn't kosher?:idunno: Seems like a double standard to me. No disrespect to Pioneerforever regarding their line last year, and as this thread is about the RB's this year, I will join the O-Line discussion elsewhere. So, if each of these six players was faster then the entire St. X or Henry Clay teams, why didn't SK give them the ball so they could score more points last year? Really, with that kind of overall speed, you'd think the coach would have built a winning game plan around any of the 6 of these players.:confused:

By what measure do you make the bolded claim? As to the part about SK having the speed to play with these teams (Henry Clay and St. X), make sure you come back when you can remind us when they have the speed to beat them, not just play with them!:thumb:
