Scrimmages are before the season starts and they have different guidlines. Once opening day arrives the rules are much different. I would think that before it`s too late someone should check on this. I am hearing out of Lexington that this practice of 3 and 3 or batting 11 , etc. is unacceptable.

In the 16th region the pay is $53.50 for a 7 inning game. It does not matter whether it is varsity or jv. For softball the pay is $48.50 for a 7 inning game. In fact this coming weekend I believe that Boyd County high school is hosting a jv softball tournament. All games are 7 inning games and umpires will be paid accordingly. $48.50 per ump per game.

JUST A QUESTION == If game rules are changed and you only score 3 runs per game or bat 10 or 11 hitters then if a player is injured and the game is not played under the NFHS guidlines will insurance cover the medical expenses or not?

Congrats to the Tigers on a good run at the all A. We certainly hope to see more of that mound presence this summer from Shane and Austin.

Amber Riddle hit a monster shot tonight in the 8th inning at Boyd County High School giving her 30 career home runs and tying the state record for home runs. She now has 11 ( I believe ) on the season. Boyds fence is approx. 220 feet. Congrats Amber :dancingpa

Congrats to Marissa. She had an outstanding freshman season. Not easy to be an immediate impact player on a team much less the conference. Look for BIG things from Marissa and Pikeville in the next couple years. They have a very nice team in place.

I believe the state record is 30 and Amber hit her 25th Tuesday night at East Carter.

Don`t recall the proper at bat ruling --- fielders choice, base hit, ......... HOWEVER the umpires made the correct ruling. The 6 hitter did indeed finish her at bat and had there been no outs when the interference occured the 6 hitter would have been placed at 1st base. The no. 7 hitter definately would be the proper hitter leading off the next inning. NICE JOB BLUE :thumb:

Scott is in a good position working for Coach McCloud ( AD ) at GRC Conway seems very well planted in Laurel County and the AD ( Jimmy Durham ) is also a Deputy Sheriff. He may not let him leave. haha Brock ---- Bill ------ Can`t see him leaving his team that he has worked so many years to bring along slow and steady. Should be a Tomcat for as long as he wants to be. Chris --- Would definately be a nice choice expecially if all possibilities would come with him. Merle -- Has absolutely paid his dues. I would be shocked if he doesn`t get the option before anyone else. There comes a time when this respect is just deserved.

You are correct in that one technical is assessed and get the numbers corrected. All the numbers. Start the game with 2 free throws and the ball for a half court throw in and don`t look back.

Spoke with Paul Lewis who was at the game umpiring and he said she was her normal calm and in control self in the circle. She went 3 balls and no strikes to one hitter and came back to get a strikeout. Pikeville College is apparently taking on a very nice look. Former East standout and 2 time Mid South conference player Krista Kouns is at short and Marissa is in left when not pitching. Former Lawrence County standout Brittany Schaeffer is in right and hitting 4th. Marissas` high school teammate Tiffany Little shares time at 1st base. Cory Houston has also transferred from W>VA> State and should make an impact when she becomes eligible.

1) Yes there are standards and associations and supervisers and evaluators to whom officials are held accountable. 2) I would venture to say that alot of the fans who coomplain do not want a fair called game. Maybe they think they do but what they actually want is a game where majority of calls either go there way or aren`t called at all. Go to a game sometime where you have no dogs in the fight and just be aware of the comments around you. It is unbelievable what you can realize if you are just out scouting an opponent and could care less who wins. 3) twice this year I have heard comments such as : what about the other end ref? do you really believe that they don`t foul on that end? I looked at the scoreboard and in one instance the fouls were 3 to 3 and the other they were 5 to 5. I think consistant is in the eyes of the beholder and so is fair. jmo

Doesn`t sound like a lame excuse huh? Better to obey the laws of safety I guess. Cancellation doesn`t always mean someone doesn`t want to play does it. Thanks for clearing this up for them.

ABSOLUTELY --- I can sure see that in the many guys that have graduated from there in the past 8 years. I would say there are many that feel as you do.

You will find Rowan County lefty Matt Martin this season on the mound for the Georgetown college Tigers. He will not be wearing the green and white.

When a fan or situation gets to the point where the official needs to have them removed for abusive behavior...it has already imo been allowed by administration to go on way too long. I saw a game this season where fans were escorted out by athletic directors and officers. I spoke with the officials after the game and they never knew anything had happened. This is what administration does when they take it seriously. Officials are there to officiate the game...not to be cussed at and not to be personally abused. I'm not talking about 3 seonds, foul, get 'em off, let 'em play. I`m talking about language that would not be tolerated in a classroom situation. If we continue to run them off...then in the words of one former official...we would then have "recess."

I agree with you disagreeing. I would want Martin batting as many times per game as possible. That would be in the leadoff spot. I would never take the bat out of Carvers hands by hitting him in the 2 spot. The kid has never met a pitcher he can`t hit.

So I guess you disagree with the person that wrote officials are waiting for someone else to make the call. Oh by the way ---- surveys conducted show that there are about 3 - 4 less fouls per game in a three person game.

A player need not be in the game at the time of a technical to be inserted for the sole reason of shooting the technical free throws.
