Post 76 tonight dug down deep and after being down 5 - 1 through 3 innings came storming back to defeat host Shelbyville 9 - 5. Murnahan had 2 more big hits and drove in four runs and kory darby had a 2 run double. In the top of the ninth and the scored tied at 5 the sixers had 1 out and runners at 2nd and 3rd. Clark was walked intentionally and Murnahan drilled the first pitch he saw off the fence in left center. The sixers are in the region finals for the 4th year in a row. Fyffe went the distance and was stronger at the end than in the first 4 innings. Branham was on base 4 times and Bowling scored 3 times

Post 76 defeated Shelbyville Post 37 tonight in a good ole good one. The temperature on the bank read 100 and the tempers were just as hot. Benches emptied and words were exchanged along with a few bumps and shoves.........................nothing brutal . Fans were even ejected from the park. After being down 5 - 1 after 3 innings the sixers scored 4 times in the fifth and four more in the top of the 9th to win 9 - 5. wow..............what a game!!!

The lefty is Jarred Stafford from louisville christian academy. He contacted coach lewis in the winter and inquired about playing this summer for the sixers. with the rules regarding rosters it would not have been possible to take him and still be legal. some say he is moving to morehead next month. if that is the case and if his birthday is appropriate with the rules it would sure be nice to see him play in a sixer uniform next summer. he plays the game hard and with respect. nice to watch play and tuff to play against.

What post number is Paducah? Are they playing round robin or dbl. elim.

Ashland defeated Oldham Co. 7 - 4 and Shelbyville won by forfeit when Carrollton Co. did not show up.

In Shelbyville tonight Post 76 came from behind with a huge 7th inning to defeat the Oldham Co. Post 38 Aces by a score of 7 - 4. In the inning Greg Bowling had a bases loaded double to drive in 3 runs to tie the score at 4 and 3 batters later J.C. Murnahan took a 1 - 2 pitch over the 345 sign in left field for a 7 - 4 lead and top off the 6 run outburst. Justin Blanton worked 8 2/3 innings on the mound for the sixers and Casey Branham closed it out. Blanton allowed 4 runs ( 2 earned ) while walking 4 , and striking out ten and giving up 7 hits. Shelbyville picked up an easy forfeit win tonight in the second game as Carrollton County did not show up. The sixers and Shelbyville square off thursday night at 7:00 p.m.

STATE tourney is at Boyd County High School. Starts Wed. August 8th at 11:00. Games are at 11 , 2 , 5 & 8 on Wed. , Thur., and at 11 and 2 on fri. the 5 and 8 games on friday are at a site yet to be determined. Saturday is back at BCHS at 2:00 and 6:00. Sunday will be at 3:00 if necessary Bowling Green post 23 and Owensboro post 9 are in. They had their regional tournament this past weekend. The Somerset, Danville, Campbellsville Region is this weekend. They will play a round robin format. The paducah region is this weekend and the Ashland region is this weekend actually starting today (wed) in Shelbyville. Ashland plays a very pitching rich Oldham co. team at 5 and Shelbyville plays Carrolton co. at 8.

Bowling Green and Owensboro are now in. They had their state regional this past weekend. they defeated Madisonville and Lyon Co. Campbellsville is a team made up of mostly Campbellsville college and St. Catharine college players. They are very strong and the defending state champs. Danville is a big powerful team. Paducah is notoriously strong and Shelbyville should be the front runner to come out of region 3 with post 76. Oldham county is very good but after 2 pitchers...........very suspect.

Rob Francis is actually the head coach of the junior team. Rob has done an outstanding job managing the team.

Thanks gametime Actually --- the only ones that couldn`t make it because of football were at the state tournament afterall. John Scott Carver was at the entire tournament and Eric Craft missed the first two games and the after Fridays` practice he and his father got up early Saturday morning and drove to owensboro Before the game on saturday. Nice team effort by the two football players. they played well.

The roster also included Matt Thompson from Fairview. Matt only missed one time all year and that was at the state tournament. He got sick and then when he felt well enough to come his papaw had a heart attack. Best wishes to Clarence on his recovery.

In what many called the best game of the weekend Decateur post 15 defeated Ashland post 76 in extra innings. I believe that post 76 may have been the only team to score against Decateur. They have a very nice team with lots of quality pitching.

Yes he does. hit one about 390 at univ. of ky. this past weekend and absolutely scorched the ball all weekend. Cory will be playing baseball at the univ. of rio grande next year. full ride

I Got to see them play 3 times this past weekend in Ashland. They have some pretty nice talent. Strong pitching, good hitting and discipline. third basemand (Taylor) pretty strong defensively. nice athletes. Tayloe was the gold glove winner and pitcher Moore was co tournaments` most outstanding pitcher.

in n-eastern ky. most of the 16s play for post 76. They have a nice variety of the 16th region players and are really well disciplined players. players ranger from laiken johnson from rowan to craft, hieneman and staten and logan from greenup along with slick fielding peyton martin and lefty josh wilson from raceland. very competitive

Fyffe pitched for JC. allowed 3 hits and struck out 15. JC could not advance runners all night.

As someone that lives in Ashland and doesn`t get to see players like Blanton and Fyffe play I look forward to seeing them play this summer.

Most here in the 16th Region, play for Post 76, Jr. and Sr. Legion teams. They also, have a few players from Ohio and 2 from Johnson Central.

I believe Rigsby went the 1st 5 and then Adkins finished.

I would think that it would be very difficult to be head coach of a winter and a spring sport. When looking at all the likely candidates in house I wouldn`t be surprised if a new coach might be jake the snake clark. Full of energy --- loves to work with kids and has a strong desire to be successful.

Who was the D1 coach there tonight? i hear that cumberland would like to get into the picture since scott is having doubts about football. heard anything?

NO JV GAME ON THIS ONE. JUST ONE VARSITY GAME. RUSSELL SCORED 2 IN THE 7TH TO MAKE IT 4 - 0. BOYD LOADED THE BASES IN THE 7TH WITH 1 OUT BUT COULD NOT GET A BIG HIT. SCOREBOARD WAS NOT WORKING.

yes---------it is the same Maynard that was at Scott. His family is from Sandy Hook and he and his mother moved there about two years ago.
