gchs_uk9 Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I'm not real familiar with Russell, but why do they struggle to score so much? Is it an execution thing or are they really young? I know they've lost some players in the last couple years, but they were in Rupp two years ago.
FBALL Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I'm not real familiar with Russell, but why do they struggle to score so much? Is it an execution thing or are they really young? I know they've lost some players in the last couple years, but they were in Rupp two years ago. They are very inexperienced. Noone who has started a varsity game before this year. Also young. They have 4 seniors but after that it is all sophmores and a 7th grader who is going to be a very good one.
CountyPride Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Wow is all I have to say after watching this game. Pretty low scoring affair. My assesment of the game was: Boyd County is still having a tough time getting their Offense going. A lot of passes picked off. Selby had at least half the points as he was pretty solid inside. Russell is just a bunch of guys playing as hard as they can, but they just dont have the talent. Fergusson had quite a few points but all the players had a lot of misses and airballs. I will say the Fergusson kid has some hops though. Russell tends to just pass the ball around, around, around, around and around on the point till Skaggs got open for a three. Boyd County also stalled the ball tonight as well. Very boring to watch. Both Boyd and Russell played hard, just not the talent as the past for either team. After watching the JV game and Varsity, I dont buy into the fact that Russell doesnt have any kids that could start over the younger players. They had some decent kids on the JV Team. I think #20 should be starting for Russell on the Varsity. Good looking player. Not sure of names, first time watching them. I honestly felt like Russell's JV played with more fundamentals and more focus than the Varsity did. Fergusson was the only difference. BTW, another night of TERRIBLE calls in the 16th Region...Both ways of course. I even saw Selby knock a Russell player into another one that knocked him out of bounds, and they called it Boyd ball, but at the same time seen Fergusson throw one way out of bounds and they called in Russell ball. Simply amazing in the 16th Region with some of the calls anymore. Congrats to Boyd and good luck to both teams for the rest of the Year.:thumb:

I know they've lost some players in the last couple years, but they were in Rupp two years ago. Russell lost 10 of the top 12 from last year. Ferguson is the only player that played many varsity minutes and he didn't start last year. Also, two of the players that were counted on to start this year moved. Boyd Co 22-31 free throws Russell 1-7
CountyPride Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Boyd Co 22-31 free throws Russell 1-7 I watched the game, and I KNEW someone would bring this up. Let me just say it is hard to get fouled when you just pass the ball around at the point and then shoot 3's. Kinda seemed like Russell was content by just scoring 20 pts a game. On the flip side, Boyd probably shot 16 ft's at the end of the 4th Quarter when Russell started fouling because they were behind, so lets bring out all the facts before we starting going crazy of this one.:thumb: Duck, seems like Russell needs to work on their FT's at practice, a very low percentage made.
duck1220 Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Booger, I didn't put it in bold print, you did. I was mearly stating the fact. Russell was guilty on every foul that was called.
duck1220 Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 I don't think 7-7 would have helped in this one. Good luck to both teams in the district.
Rickyp Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 You say Russell is young with 4 seniors. I guess this means they will be in the same boat next year correct?
CountyPride Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Booger, I didn't put it in bold print, you did. I was mearly stating the fact. Russell was guilty on every foul that was called. Sorry, I thought you was stating the difference of the amount of attempts in questionable manner.... OK, I will go back to sleep, sorry.:thumb: BTW, I slept during the game too.:thumb:

Here you talk about how bad they did ......................

HOOKSHOT Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Booger was just happy Zornes didn't have to waste any of those rabbitts tonight.:bunny::bunny::bunny: Booger, just how big is King Rogers hat ? I'm still going to nominate you for his foundation Elpresidenta .:bunny: I also witnessed a fine call made tonite. Player fouled on shot-ref calls it -ref #2 calls tec on other end of floor on coach-ref#3 lines em up for tec shots- permits player to shoot that was not in game at time of tec call ! player shoots 2, ball is given to other team and put in play !! Original player fouled was never given the freethrows awarded !! When ref was questioned two possessions later he replied : foul was on floor before shot . QUICK THINKIN REF!! with 3 refs on floor there is no excuse for that. They made a total mess out of that one.
