This is the most confusing description of an ejection I have ever read. The two descriptions don't even agree on which team was inbounding the ball much less what instigated the contact. Wish I would have been there to see the action myself. Regardless of the reason for the action, does "clearly hitting a player's arm" warrant an ejection?

I think camelman is pretty accurate in his response. HMS boys teams have been very sucessul for quite a long time. The current senior and junior classes at HHS won over 75% of their HMS games. Not tranlating due to boys exiting program, and those playing football not having the time or committment to playing bball year round. That said, there is a core, especially on the 7th grade level that will be bball only and that do play a lot of AAU. It seems like a long way off but maybe.......

CCH may have won the psychological battle of the players with their well executed no fist bump, trash talking, hard nosed style,. They always have the psychological advantage over the officials with the Assistants (especially Frederick) bantering with the officials before, at halftime, and during every game. Coach Ruthsatz works the men in stripes over pretty well and was on the floor more than some of his starters Friday night. All that considered, I think the two most important factors were: NCC's inability to run the break. Against most teams they get the ball out and up the court in a hurry. Off a miss or a made field goal, they have the ability to score in transition. CCH takes that away. NCC forced to score in the the half court set. Secondly, NCC has a decided advantage in the post. Once it is established that the physical play is not going to be called, the NCC bigs need to be as aggressive and active as the defenders. CCH was able to intercept, deflect, and disrupt the post offense. The entire complexion of this game would have changed if some of those shot fouls in the paint would have been called. I give the officials credit, they were consistent. Even getting a bloody nose on a shot attempt didn't get called.

Much closer than many Bluebird fans thought it would be. Dayton was within 3 late in the fourth quarter. Kenny Ball with 19 - 5 buckets from way down town for the "All Beef Eater team" 3 point "specialist". Justin Weyer added 14 on three 3 pointers and some free throws late in the game. HHS travels to Pendelton on Tuesday going for 4 in a row.

Where is this being held? I know the latest date given for the completion of the field house is early Feb. That would be a neat kick-off type event for team and facility.

Ryle has wins over Newport and Beechwood - so I would say they are part of the "middle of the pack". 9th region has 20 basketball playing schools. If you take out the top and bottom 5, Ryle would definitely fit in that middle 10.

Highlands 6th and 7th grade teams both with wins over Twenhofel tonight. I think the 6th grade boys team is still undefeated. The 7th grade team has already played 24 games. They are 22-2.

Highlands traveled to Union tonight and got the win in overtime. Bluebirds were up 8 early, lead shrunk to 4 at half 31-27. Game went back and forth in the second half. HHS had a shot to win it in regulation but the shot rimmed out. Winning bucket scored with 3 seconds remaining in the OT.

Rather low scoring game for these two teams.

Do Ky Public Middle School teams have a maximum number of games that they can play in the regular season?

This is where the limitations being placed on the category come into play. By using criteria that state play both sides of the ball or special teams you are opening it up to a group of well rounded players but eliminating a select few. Hoge was not the main punter but is an excellent punter. He was not the holder, but has held in years past and did a great job. He could have received kick offs or punts and been phenominal with his elusiveness. He could have started at LB, CB, or safety and would have been an outstanding defensive player. None of this was necessary in the two platoon system. He just doesn't meet the criteria, oh well.

I have not posted once in this thread that Hoge should have been the QB. That would be a Birds eye view. This discussion has been about his omission as an athlete. So to get all the facts correct. You can only be considered as an athlete if you play on a team that isn't strict two platoon or if you are needed to play special teams. These should be factors that help players to make the team, not keep the best athletes/players off the team. BTW, Hoge punted a couple of times this year. Does that count??

Great spin guys. Way to tow the company line. Somebody call Wikipedia and get all the BGP definitions of athlete added. That will help clear up the confusion.

What exactly is the lesson? Teaching them who's boss. Letting them know who's in charge. How about coaching them up a bit. Call timeouts and make adjustments. Teach some defense. I know I'm in the minority on here but I hate this style of coaching.
