  1. Isn't it strange how 2 people can see the same game and come to two totally different conclusions? Everybody benefits by switching, just as was mentioned in another post. The refs like it because they can call their game and go home, and the coaches like it because they know the officials aren't biased because they don't know anyone involved in the game.
  2. Not being familiar with the eight region, does anyone have a realistic chance to beat Simon Kenton?
  3. From experience at NKU games it takes FOREVER to get a ticket, as they each have to be printed out of the computer. It won't be like a high school gym where you hand them your money and walk in. I would advise anyone who can to get your tickets ahead of time.
  4. That says it all. Talk is cheap, lets play and see who wins.
  5. I have mentoned this all year and have constantly been criticized on here as trying to cause internal discent. I'm glad someone else recoginizes the "White Elephant" in the room that everyone wants to ignore.
  6. Just curious, but how could HC have been playing Holmes in the first round of the regional when they are from the same district? They would have been in opposite brackets.
  7. If you are watching the game on Holy Cross video and you can tell if they are calling the game too close you have better eyes than anyone I know. From what I can "see" neither coach has had a word to say, and both teams are just passing the ball around. Why, why, why does it always come to officials. Holmes is just clearly better.
  8. I presume you take my comment about not being to a regional final as indicating a lack of experience. I don't know how you draw that conclusion. The comment refers to my ORIGINAL comment that Highlands seems to not play as well at tourney time as they do during the season. I think you may be a little paranoid about the seniors. I stand by my previous comments about Natalie Horner's minutes being squeezed. In MY opinion she hasn't played as much as she should have. Period. It is simply MY opinion. If you think these coments could cause a rift among your supporters, you must feel pretty insecure about their solidarity. I simply gave my positives and negatives about each team I thought had a chance to win the Ninth region. I still stand by my comments.
  9. I didn't know your current seniors didn't count. You make it sound like they the team is just juniors. I think the senior group has a lot of talent. Last year I thought they should have won, and they lost by about 10 points in the regional, and the year before many Highlands posters were saying they would make a real run. You mention they were up 7 points in the first half against ND, but they lost by 20. Those are the instances I am refering to. Also, your senior group has never been to a regional final, so I'll stand by my comments. Not looking for an argument, but those are the facts, and I'm sure some of your fans feel the same way as a number have mentioned these very facts to me.
  10. I think each team has strenghts and weaknesses, reasons they could win and reasons they may not win, so here are my thoughts: Highlands - obviouslythe most talented team and undefeated in the 9th region, so the big favorite. Drawback is they don't seem to play well at tourney time. I'm sure their fans would have thought they would have won a regional tourney before now with this talent, but for some reason or another they haven't. Will they come up short again this year? Boone Co. - Don't seem to have the talent they usually have, outside of Bradley, but have been pretty consistent all year. Usually do play well at tourney time, and have Coach Fookes who can get them ready. NDA - Have been really good at times, and have been really bad at times. Never have seemed to have settled in all year. Right now haven't been playing well, so can they turn it around by next week? NCC - Are playing better recently, excluding the Ryle game, but are not very deep at all, and play their only 6 players almost exclusively. Depend very heavily on Sandfoss and Tabor, so foul trouble could really hurt them. If they can avoid this, and Sandfoss doesn't have a bad night, they can win. Ryle - Seem to have been playing better since Moss left team. Sometimes their is addition by subtraction, and this may be the case. However, they are really young and that can hurt at tourney time. They are probably a tear or two away, but could get hot and steal it like Connor did last year. Connor - Champs until someone beats them, but have had so many injuries I don't see how they could defend title These are just my thoughts, so have at it.
  11. That's just the problem when a parocial school is tryig to hire a coach. It took St. Henry almost a month to find someone if I am not mistaken. The job doesn't pay well, so unless you find a qualified assistant at another parocial school you are generally in trouble. Most often a head coach doesn't move from one paricial school to another. So it is a problem.
  12. I don't think hs coaching ability had anything to do with his dismissal. Therefore, unless the reason he was let go is no longer valid how could he be hired back. And before anyone asks, I have NO idea what the problem was, but had several people very close to the program say it was not his win/lose record.
  13. Wasn't looking for anything as I am not aligned with either team. Just thought it was a curious statement. It was just an innocent statement. I don't put much stock in JV tournaments anyway, as it all depends on which players a team chooses to play. I don't believe a team should "drop" players down to play in JV tournaments but it happens all the time. Have no clue if this happened, but that's why I really don't put much stock in them.
  14. Not that it has a bearing, but a little known fact is that the guy who scored the winning basket was in jail the following year at tournament time.
  15. They have had a very strong program for a long time, it just looks like it will continue.
  16. I would be absolutely shocked if Kues were re-hired. It will never happen IMO. Whatever reasons they had for his dismissal were several years ago I wouldn't think haven't changed, and I think Brossart would be making a big mistake in re-hiring someone they basically fired. The aspect of hiring Riley might be money. I'd be surprised if he wasn't making more money now than a parocial school could pay him as head coach. He may be willing to take the job to become a head coach, but he sure isn't going to get rich doing it.
  17. I am not even from your part of the state so I surely didn't care who won, but I hate it when people say "The game was decided by an official". Did the official shoot the free throws, did he/she miss any shots for FC during the game, turn it over, etc, etc, etc. Maybe people should propose that in a close game the officials should just leave the floor with a minute to play and let the teams call their own game the last minute. I'm sure that would work. Or the KHSAA could just forbid any whistles the last 10 seconds. If the same cal had been made in the second quarter no one whould have said a thing. Officials don't win or lose games, teams do.
  18. I have wondered that myself In the few games I have seen them Tabor doesn't seem to get the ball down low at all. It seems she could be a force. The team is very guard oriented. If that's all you have that's fine, but It just seems at times Tabor is wasted. I expected bigger things of her this year.
  19. They will make the regional with no problem, but if they keep counting on "skating" by they won't win the regional tournament.
  20. Congratulations to Natalie, it's been a long season and she deserves this.
  21. Would hope this game can be rescheduled, as it should be one of the best of the year.
  22. Are people selling Connor a little short here. Boone may well win, but by a bunch?
  23. Just curious, but I noticed in the boxscore 3 NCC players played the entire game and another only missed 1 1/2 minutes. I saw where they were 2 of 13 from the field and 2 of 7 from the line in the 4th quarter. Given they were playing on a college floor which is 10 feet longer and it was their second game of the day, I wonder if their legs were gone, because that will lead to missed shots late. Would a little more subbing have helped?
  24. June Bucannan ( I assume that is a school and not just one girl ).
