NCC06 Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 Good to see the up and coming talent for the Breds.
trainride Posted February 14, 2009 Posted February 14, 2009 NCC is building a very strong girls program. They have a lot of talented Freshmen and Sophs.

malachicrunch Posted February 15, 2009 Author Posted February 15, 2009 Outplayed but not outclassed.:thumb: I can go with that. Highlands just did not come to play. Turnovers, lack of offense, complete breakdown on D, and lack of rebounding contributed to this loss. The coach's substitution pattern had a few of us scratching our heads. 10-0 after 1st quarter. Then 23-10 at half. Coach starts very rarily used frosh guard in the 2nd half, and at one point in time had both of his usual guards on the bench. 8 point run for NCC. Just didn't get it. 32 had a monster game for NCC. For some reason the Highlands post players felt it was unnecessary to guard her or block her out. 5 also had a good game. Good luck to the LadyBreds today in the championship game. Anyone know who won the 2nd game between Ryle and Boone?

tdyballgame Posted February 15, 2009 Posted February 15, 2009 Is there a hidden meaning in this statement? No not at all. After I said that, I figured some might take exception to it. Didn't mean anything by it. I was merely suggesting that Mali meant the same thing. So don't get them all in a bunch. NewCath played an outstanding game and was by far the batter team. I do think though that they were sending a message with the lack of substitution. There how is that for you. Is that what you are looking for. :isurrender:

I don't put much stock in JV tournaments anyway, as it all depends on which players a team chooses to play. I don't believe a team should "drop" players down to play in JV tournaments but it happens all the time. Have no clue if this happened, but that's why I really don't put much stock in them.

Speaking of messages, at St. Henry, I noticed one of the post players was left on the bench for practically the whole 2nd half. I asked the asst. later if they had forgot her. He said they were sending a message. I later asked the player who I have coached myself if she knew why she didn't play in the 2nd half? She said she had no idea, but wasn't happy with it. What kind of message does that send? I don't believe in these in game messages. Talk to the player, let them know if they need to do something different.
tdyballgame Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 I don't know. I'm confused. I was talking about NCC. What are you talking about? See that's what I get for going to one game and spouting off my opinion. Ok, guess I will stick to the other threads.
Nkysportsblog Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Ryle beat Boone in the semis and then Newcath beat Ryle today in the finals.

If it is the player that I think it is, she needs to learn to play harder on a more consistent basis. Having not attended the game myself, I would say that a contributing factor to the victory margin had a lot to do with the fact that HHS plays 4 8th graders and a freshman. As I have stated many times, I believe that kids should only be playing up this far if they totally dominate the competition at their grade level. The girl to whom you are referring did not dominate at the middle school level last year by any stretch.

They lost to NCC by I think maybe 4 or 5. NCC destroyed a very good HHS team on Sat. that yes is very young but by no means immature or unable to dominate. NCC obviously was the best JV team this yr in NKY with their win over Ryle. Congrats to NCC.
trainride Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 They have had a very strong program for a long time, it just looks like it will continue. Agreed. I just think they have a lot of good young players coming up.
