Excited and cannot wait. Good LUCK Lady Pioneers!

Just about the best possible draw for SK.

Hate to see Spencer County - this year's Cinderella Story - have to go up against SK in the first round...

I'm sure South and Anderson are happy to be away from Simon.

Not being familiar with the eight region, does anyone have a realistic chance to beat Simon Kenton?

Last year ANDERSON - SK final was a great game. That would be my best guess at a challenge. The only region game outside of districts SK had this year was 13+ win over Shelby. I think the coach tried (for the most part) to keep the schedule high this season to push the girls.

SK couldn't have drawn it any better!

A more true statement has never been made, magicfan. You are dead on it - not that SK needed a break. The only apparent equalizers might be several long bus rides and the flu bug that is circulating in some parts of the area. On paper, though, it looks like a done deal ... however paper doesn't cover the hardwood. We'll just have to wait and see, and since there are so many young players lining the rosters of several of these teams, it's highly possible that one or two teams might a some eggs in the first round.

Interesting that SK and Anderson have each only played 9 games, including the 2 District Tourney games, in their region. Some of the teams left have played up to 22. They have both played solid schedules and it will be interesting to see how they really can match up with the other schools in the region.

SK is probably the team with the target on their back but they should have enough senior leadership to accept the challenge. SK is a machine when they get rolling and I look for them to get it going this week and cut down the nets in the finals.

Any chance the 8th will ever play at the BOK arena? 2 local teams deserve the chance to play close to home in a big arena? Maybe they take the place of the 10th next year when they head back south?

Would be the stupidest ever if they did!

I would seriously doubt it. Moving the regional games "outside" of the region?? Yes, it's easy to say that SK and Walton folks might like the shorter trip...but Anderson? Not likely. Plus, you have no idea who's going to be in the tournament when the decision to book the venue would have to be made. It'd be a total crap shoot.

What I'd like to see happen is that the regional tournament "travels" through each of the four districts. One year it's the 29th district's turn to host...the next year, the 31st'...after that, the 30th...and then the 32nd. Then, when the rotation turns over, give another school within that district an opportunity to host. It's seems like this has actually happened over the past few years with Grant Co. (32nd), Owen Co. (31st), Shelby Co. (30th), and now South Oldham (29th) hosting the region. Don't know if it's been planned that way or not, but it's probably offered the most "fair" route to having "nearby" games for the schools.

True, none of them offer the "big arena" type of venue...but after all, why do the fans go to the games? For the venue...or for the teams?
