ckshockey Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Anyone care to share their thoughts and predictions?
doubledeuce Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I would think Highlands is the very strong favorite, based upon their undefeated record against the 9th Region.
NCC06 Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I would think Highlands is the very strong favorite, based upon their undefeated record against the 9th Region. Agreed Highlands is by far the favorite but they will really have to earn it with so many teams playing good ball such as Ryle, Boone, NCC, and NDA. It will be fun to watch every night.
bjim Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I like Highlands’s chances. They are very solid and if they play like they're capable they should win it. This will be no cake walk, (no pun intended) and I would expect most games to be very competitive.
Crunch-time Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I would think Highlands is the very strong favorite, based upon their undefeated record against the 9th Region. Anything short of winning the region will be a major disappointment.
bjim Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Anything short of winning the region will be a major disappointment. I whole heartedly agree!
paNDA Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Having watched NDA in the Regional finals the last three years I can tell you it is a pressure cooker. Fun and exciting but a pressure cooker. Upsets in the Region are pretty common. Holmes two years ago was a classic example of playing great at the right time. So who is hot......NCC and Ryle. Playing well all season Boone....the bullseye team Highlands. NDA is always a threat. This is what it is all about. Come and get it! Any other 9th Region contenders bring it now.
ckshockey Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 You're right! It's the greatest time of the year for basketball fans.
paNDA Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Come on, somebody go out on a limb and pick an upset! Plenty of great teams in the ninth. Hard as it is to believe there are even some I don't have any pictures of.
HCUCVB Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 I realize its still early but was wondering if the dates/times were set for the girls regional bracket. Just figured with all the activity at the new KY Bank Center, dates/times would have been set to secure the place . . .

It will be fun to watch every night. I think each team has strenghts and weaknesses, reasons they could win and reasons they may not win, so here are my thoughts: Highlands - obviouslythe most talented team and undefeated in the 9th region, so the big favorite. Drawback is they don't seem to play well at tourney time. I'm sure their fans would have thought they would have won a regional tourney before now with this talent, but for some reason or another they haven't. Will they come up short again this year? Boone Co. - Don't seem to have the talent they usually have, outside of Bradley, but have been pretty consistent all year. Usually do play well at tourney time, and have Coach Fookes who can get them ready. NDA - Have been really good at times, and have been really bad at times. Never have seemed to have settled in all year. Right now haven't been playing well, so can they turn it around by next week? NCC - Are playing better recently, excluding the Ryle game, but are not very deep at all, and play their only 6 players almost exclusively. Depend very heavily on Sandfoss and Tabor, so foul trouble could really hurt them. If they can avoid this, and Sandfoss doesn't have a bad night, they can win. Ryle - Seem to have been playing better since Moss left team. Sometimes their is addition by subtraction, and this may be the case. However, they are really young and that can hurt at tourney time. They are probably a tear or two away, but could get hot and steal it like Connor did last year. Connor - Champs until someone beats them, but have had so many injuries I don't see how they could defend title These are just my thoughts, so have at it.

I will go out on a limb and pick the Breds to win it all.

I think NCC has a great chance to sneak up on some people in this tournament. Their defensive style will really give some teams some trouble as shown in the NDA game a week ago.
ckshockey Posted February 20, 2009 Author Posted February 20, 2009 Ryle! They may be young but they have the fight in them. Look for the "quiet" ones to step up and make the big plays.
