  1. I made an observation. I made the "Not a relative" comment so no one would think I was. I am not even a fan of Highlands, but some things are obvious if you watch them play enough.
  2. Who cares whose minutes are taken? Listen to your parents closely sometime and you will know who cares.
  3. As I said, I think her confidence is shot. It is easy to say forget everything and start over, but after 3 1/2 years of being basically ignored or passed over that is easier said than done. However, as to your suggestion that she be put out there Friday and told to shoot 10 3pointers, I don't disagree. However, given the fact she doesn't get enough time to shoot 2 shots I don't think there is a chance in the world she would be given enought time to do this. Incidentally, I agree Highlands will need someone like her to beat the really good teams. I don't see it happening.
  4. This is a violation, the same as traveling, resulting in the other taking posession. This is called if the player has his/her elbows "outside"the normal framework of te body i.e. hips and shoulders.
  5. If that is the case you have had quite a few to root for over the years, as that school just keeps pumping out good players year after year.
  6. I've felt Horner is the player that has been "squessed" out of minutes her whole career. She basically is now reduced to a 6-10 minute role player. I always felt she should have been used more often than she was. She is a shooter and you have to stay with people like that even when she misses a couple. In the games I have seen she has become much more tentative through her career because she seemed to be looking over her shoulder knowing her first missed shot or turnover would cause her to come out of the game. I have been very disappointed in how she has been used, but it is too late now. By the way, she is no relation, and these are just my observations having watched her play. So don't think I have an ax to grind or anything like that.
  7. Who's minutes does she take? Also, it would hurt their team speed IMO, and cut into their ability to pressure the ball. She would have problems guarding a player on the premiter, so where does she match up?
  8. I guess you are implying they didn't have one for the last 12 years? In that case winning over 200 games, 5 All "A" 9th region titles, 2 State Runner-up All A titles, and two 9th region regular titles among other things WITHOUT a coach is quite an accomplishment. Check back in 12 years and see if they can match these totals NOW that they have a COACH. This is by no means a knock on Ron Dawn, but when will some people at least acknowledge the accomplishment of the previous coach. ( YES, they did have one.)
  9. Have never known Coach Fookes to "duck" a team. That said, I think Highlands by 10.
  10. A win would give NCC 3 regional titles in a row and 6 of the last 9.
  11. Can anyone challange Newport Central Catholic for the 9th region title next week?
  12. NCC should win the All "A" without even being challanged.
  13. Thanks for the info. If you could publish this each week it would be great.
  14. I think it will be a very difficult task for NCC to win at Highlands, as it is the most difficult place to play in the region for visiting teams. There is just NO room to play at the closed end. It was overwhemlingly voted the poorest venue in the region in a survey I saw last year. It actually isn't a good place for fans either as there are no aisles to walk in to get to seats. I've often wondered how the police/firemen permit this, as it is the only place I've ever been that you literally can't get out of the stands if you are seated higher than the 3rd row without falling all over people. With that said, I think a good showing by NCC will certainly project them into the 9th region picture and make for a more interesting remainder of the season. A 12-15 point win for Highlands will solidify their standing as the team to beat.
  15. I didn't think SK played very well either, but #20 on NCC did a very good job on Tolliver. She got 18 points but took a lot of shots to get them, and all were contested. How much NCC's defense had to do with SK's performance is anyone's guess. Bottom line, they are in different regions so it really doesn't make a lot of difference. I would think SK is more concerned with Anderson Co. and NCC with Highlands. If NCC can have a good showing against Highlands Friday it will make things more interesting in the 9th, however.
  16. Now that both teams had big wins last night, what happens Friday?
  17. Agree with what you say. The first three items could surely be related to the gratuated seniors from last year. That's what has been mentioned by current players.
  18. Now that both teams had big wins Tuesday, what happens Friday at Highlands?
  19. With the game being played at SK, I think they will win by double digits.
  20. Does anyone remember a coach named Jim Connor? Easily the face of NewCath basketball and baseball.
  21. Your comment about geting through the district with piano's on their backs isn't a shot at the other teams? That's the point, Highland's fans have been taking shots at other 9th region teams for 3 years, but still haven't been in a regional final. My point is, accomplish something meaningful before belittling other teams.
