Nope. Instead, you are the man. You nailed that one. I was amazed to see the level of talent in Lexington this year. It is almost unbelievable. When is the last time you can remember all of these division 1 signees and prospects at the same time. There must have been 30 scouts at Henry Clay on Monday. I started looking at the 11th region and there are almost 25 kids that have signed and/or will sign division 1 scholarships in the near future. Usually, Lexington has a few studs, Louisville has a few studs, etc. This year, it seems everything is in Lexington. I can remember a few years back when Sowers was at Ballard and the kid from Butler (Foley) had everyone talking about the Louisville teams. I can remember more recently how strong Trinity has been but with the exception of PRP, no-one in Louisville can play with Lex Cath or Dunbar. Congrats to these 2 coaches: I am sure that it is a high pressure situation but who wouldn't want to coach those 2 teams. ENJOY IT WHILE IT IS HERE. WE ARE ONLY THIS FORTUNATE ONCE IN A BLUE MOON... FANS, YOU HAVE GOT TO WATCH THESE 2 TEAMS, IT IS A COLLEGE BASEBALL ATMOSPHERE WITH MAJOR COLLEGE TALENT ON BOTH HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS. BEST OF LUCK 2 BOTH OF U...

What a guarantee? Henry Clay playing on their home field has no chance at winning the district? I would have to say you may be over-looking them.

How do you suggest that 9 schools break into 3 districts? If they were going to do that, they would have left East/West Jess in the 11th with Woodford making up 12 schools. Move Franklin Co schools (8th region) & Madison Co Schools to other regions. This would make the most since Geographically. BRYAN STATION, SCOTT CO, CATHOLIC, H CLAY LAFAYETTE, LCA, EAST & WEST JESS DUNBAR, T CRK, WOODFORD CO, SAYRE

Sometimes the rankings don't mean a thing. I would say this year would be one of those years. I have to agree that the Lexington schools are among the top in the state this year and have man-handled the Louisville schools but at the same time who did Tates Creek beat that are normally better than them. If no-one, then why are they ranked so high this year and not every other year. Trinity was ranked in the top 10 all year and I promise you they are down severely this year. Ballard is ranked very high and they are not real strong after you get by their #1. Danville (once ranked #4), LCA (once ranked #3), is in the same boat. After the #1 pitcher they are average at best. It will be difficult for anyone to stop the 11th other than PRP. PRP can play with both of them.

Frankfort district Tournament
I agree 100%. Frankfort has too many high schools. There are 5 public high schools in Lexington and 3 in Frankfort. The Frankfort/Franklin County school population is 900 FCHS; 500WHHS; 200-250FHS. That's about 1600 kids and 3 high schools. Financially, this is a nightmare. Everyone must admit that 3 high schools with limited tax revenue (because most of Frankfort's buildings, utilities, etc. are state buildings and it generates no tax base) is way too many schools. One high school located strategically on the east-west connector would be 15 minutes from anyone in Franklin County. Instead, we build 4 new elementary schools, great decision Sir Monte... Just think of the donations and funding that is received by the 4A schools in the surrounding counties (SCOTT CO, SHELBY CO, WOODFORD CO & ANDERSON CO) from the communities and businesses. All of these counties have one high school for city & county kids combined. All of the Lexington schools that are in our region, as well as Madison Central, are all 4A as well. How do you expect to compete with these other schools when you have limited funding from businesses (because they have to sponsor 3 schools), limited funding from board and school districts and limited tax base. It's amazing that these 3 schools can compete in any facet of athletics.

Rich Witten or Ben Revere
I have seen Revere and Witten both play several times. Revere is a phenomenon. He plays against the best competition day in and day out and always stands out on the field, whether it be football or baseball. He is the Michael Bush of Kentucky right now... Witten is a very good player as well; but, he is no-where near 94 mph (I had a gun on him vs Anderson County 2 weeks ago) 87mph max. This could be low because he has pitched a bunch this year and he could be getting a dead arm. However, Witten is a good high school hitter with excellent power. Keep in mind that the 8 wins he has pitching are against average to slightly above average competition. Revere hits every day against top-notch pitching (if he's not intentionally walked to only steal 2nd and 3rd in the next 2 pitches.) Don't get me wrong, both are going to be good college players (unless Revere never goes to College) and both have the potential to get drafted. BY THE WAY, ANYONE WANT TO PLAY IN CATHOLIC'S DISTRICT, I KNOW 5 TEAMS THAT WOULD SWITCH YOU, (INCLUDING CATHOLIC).

41st district
I don't know what game you guys watched but it wasn't the one where Franklin County played 22 kids in which they pulled all 8 starters after the first inning and the starting pitcher after the second inning. I was at the game and I know that the coach quit stealing bases in the first inning at 11-0. Not another stolen base took place after that. However, he did move up runners on passed balls and wild pitches. If you consider moving up runners on passed balls and wild pitches running up the score, consider the opposite. If I were coaching, I would consider it a smack in the face for a ball to go 50 feet past the catcher and the base runner to stand at first or 2nd base. Secondly, Frankfort High did not throw either of the senior pitchers because they wanted to save them for Western Hills in hopes of getting a win. The pitchers had 15 walks in 4 innings and the umpire was trying his best to help them with a huge strike zone. Also, keep in mind that Frankfort had almost 15 errors as well. That's 30 free baserunners in 4 innings of offense. Add to that the fact that most of the runs were scored by J.V. players and just maybe Frankfort should take responsibility for this one. Let's face it. Franklin County was trying to get out for the last 2 innings and Frankfort High had quit on the coaches. I can remember in the 4th inning with 2 outs and the score was 23 to 0, Frankfort dropped 2 infield pop fly's; missed 3 slow rolling ground balls that went thru their legs and the 2nd string catcher trying to catch a pop fly by running backwards rather than turning around. Give me a break, running up the score my -----------.

11th Region
No-one said anything about winning the region. However, pulling off an upset isn't out of the question. Do your homework and look at the khsaa website to see who is doing what within the region.

11th Region
Sounds like you favor Lexington. I don't know about Lafayette being in the top this year. Normally, yes. However, I think they might be down a little. Also, I think you might want to keep a close eye on one of those schools outside of Lexington.

41st district
OUCH!!! I saw the score. Did the coach try and run it up or was it an old fashioned beat down? How many district games have been played and what place are the in now?

St. X 7 Woodford County 5
What about Woodford? Who did what? What kind of pitching? etc.
-
Bryan Station/Frankfort
You seem to think Frankfort is going to be improved this year. Who did they lose from last years team and who is returning? How many games did they win last year and who did they beat?
-
Frankfort 64 Franklin Co. 59
What a joke? Next you're gonna tell me Foley is full of discipline. Anyways, back to basketball. I must say that Coach Byars has done a wonderful job and by almost winning the district, I am sure he will be looking for a better job come next season. Maybe you guys can get Norman to come back. Woodford, Franklin and WH loved that guy.

Frankfort 64 Franklin Co. 59
I bet Coach Foley wishes he had these fans on his side. I can remember at the Fhs vs/ Fchs football game, the tables were turned. A tailback was walking around the field and cursing at his coach from the sidelines; the fans were cursing at him from the bleachers, etc. Sounds like Byars has a different set of parents.

Top Teams??????????????
11th region should be loaded with solid teams. Lex Cath & Dunbar favored. Teams to watch should be Scott County and Franklin County. All 4 of these teams are returning almost everything. Tates Creek will be young but very talented. Lafayette and Henry Clay will be tough to beat as well. Bryan Station should be much improved as they return most players from last year as well. LCA will have one of the top pitchers in the state and can beat anyone on a given night.

Funding for turf?
One thing that needs to be included is that no matter the weather condition, the following teams can play and practice on an artificial surface. field hockey, boys & girls soccer, baseball, football, softball, track, cross country, + multiple physical education classes at one time. Why put down a hardwood floor for basketball? They could play on dirt just as well and it would be cheaper???

Joshua Smith of Frankfort Committs.........
Wise choice. He should be able to play immediately if he works hard in the weightroom and conditioning program this spring & summer.

2007 Franklin County
Lost in overtime last year to Lex Cath at Lex Cath who lost in last seconds against Cov Cath who one state. 2 years ago lost at Highlands who one the state tournament. Seems to me they aren't off by much. Coach Walker and Coach Ledford will have plenty to work with next year. Almost all of the linemen return (except Newland) and several skill kids return as well. The difference is that with the new post-season brackets, they could go to semi-finals easily. As for toughening up the schedule, he has... He plays a couple 4A teams next year in Lafayette and Woodford as well as some other quality programs outside of the district schedule. I would guess that within the district, he is probably favored slightly above Harrison County. However, the one thing that they must find is a leader. Ammons carried them whenever it was crunch-time. The question with Ammons was never can he do it; rather, how is he going to do it this time? If you don't believe, watch the tape of Catholic vs. County (or Revere vs. Ammons).

Spring Break Tournaments
I understand that Franklin County and Jefferson County Public Schools have different spring breaks than everyone else. Anyone know why? Franklin County is scheduled to play in a tournament at Marion County/St Catherine's at the beginning of the week and a second tournament at Elizabethtown at the end of the week. Trinity and Franklin County are both having to travel to Marion County and home for Wednesday and Thursday games because their spring break is different than everyone elses.

Anybody have their 07 Schedule out yet?
I agree, maybe they should move them to the 11th with Scott County and get rid of Mac's cake-walk district and regional.

Comments by Male High's Basketball coach regarding two sport stars.
I have to agree and disagree with this statement both. Things are getting out of hand but the solution is simple. Break all sports into FALL, WINTER AND SPRING. Give each of them 4 months for practice and games and that's it. Right now, baseball starts high school games on March 26th and district tournament is May 20th or so. That's less than 2 months for 30+ games. Football starts games the middle of August and goes with regular season games thru the beginning of November. That's almost 3 months. Basketball goes with games from approx Dec 1 thru February that's 3 full months. SOLUTION: FOOTBALL: AUGUST, SEPT, OCT, NOV BASKETBALL: DEC, JAN, FEB, MAR BASEBALL: APR, MAY, JUN, JUL

High School Gyms across the State
Scott County has the best gym in the 11th but if anyone from Lex Cath has read this, they are probably breaking ground on a new multi-million dollar facility to be filled with players from all over the state...JUST A JOKE; DON'T TAKE IT PERSONAL...:jump:

Thoughts on Re-districting (a year later)
Here's the hard thing to figure out about the 11th. Scott County is moved in, and I agree with this move because things were supposedly done based on geographics to save on travel time and travel expenses; however, instead of moving Frankfort to the 8th to replace Scott County and Bullitt County, they moved Jessamine County schools out. Frankfort has to go thru Scott Co or Woodford Co to get to anyone in Lexington. Jessamine County is 15 minutes from anyone in Lexington. HUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. If they weren't going to move Frankfort out then it should have been Richmond. How can they justify moving Jessamine??? Also, I have been told that the KHSAA had several meetings with Scott County and Mr. Hicks. How many other schools that were moved regions were allowed to meet with the KHSAA? Is this a common practice or is this unusual?

Baseball & Basketball broken into classes
I am not accusing LCA of anything. I am accusing Players Edge of trying to persuade kids to go to LCA. There was a catcher in the 8th grade at Scott County that attended Players Edge. Next thing you know, he was at LCA. There was a catcher at Elkhorn Middle in Frankfort that was asked to go to LCA by Players Edge staff members. I have a problem with that and so should any other fan.

Frankforts/ Robinson and Highlands/ Kramer
I agree he could probably play at the next level but he needs to become more coachable. I saw the effort he gave against Danville the first time and it was extraordinary. However, he didn't give that effort all year. It took him about 10 minutes to get to the sideline at Franklin County and that turned me off. I'm sure UK remembers that as well since they were at the game. I wish the best for the kid but he should try to pick a school that he will get playing time and UK is NOT the answer. The player at Frankfort that UK should be looking at is EJ Fields. This kid is FAST... He has good height and can run and jump with any SEC competition. He would make a great corner or receiver, as well as contribute on special teams.
