  1. Great Job Pat! You are a class act. I have played you many times and win, lose or draw, you always have a positive outlook and a well-coached team. Most importantly, you treat your players, parents and fans with respect while maintaining a disciplined program. Ryle is blessed to have you.
  2. Sorry my man. The best defensive catcher is in the 11th region alright. However, he's at Franklin County. Just ask around. I clocked him between a 1.80 and 1.90 on several throws. He's signed w/ Kentucky but has several scouts after him. He's the best I have ever seen defensively.
  3. It's the halfway point of the season. What players should be considered for Mr. Baseball at this point? Please understand that this means they are the #1 player in the state. Most likely, he's not on your favorite team. List name, school & position.
  4. I agree that athletic trainers are a necessity, especially with football and concussions. However, this new legislation being brought forward by Julian Carroll is absolutely ludicrous. Supposedly, it states that all coaches must be trained to not only identify but treat concussions. Under no circumstances would I want a coach treating my child for a concussion. All of America saw how a collegiate coach at a D1 school treated a concussion a few years ago at Texas Tech. A player that is identified as having a concussion should be cleared by a medical professional; not a high school coach. I can't imagine that any coach wants to make that decision. This is a lawyer's dream...
  5. I can't figure out why Quick is considered the front-runner when Timmons and Quick tied for votes in Louisville Courier Journal and Quick is from Louisville. Timmons could go start for almost any D1 team in the country at the Collegiate Level right now. If he was at Trinity, he would be considered for national player of the year. That's how good this kid is. An opposing coach made a quote that he saw Timmons on film and said it looked like a NASCAR being chased by tractors. Now that's funny:lol:
  6. That's embarrassing for Courier-Journal. Logan Woodside played QB 90% of the time and is only a Junior. Would someone please put together a list of players based on research. What's wrong with verifying that the information is correct with the high school coaches before submitting it to print.
  7. Who has best teams in the 11th?
  8. Zach Arnold, Franklin County, signed with UK.
  9. I heard KHSAA is investigating Trinity for Tuition non compliance. Evidently, several kids r getting more reduced tuition than allowed. This happened a few years ago and lex Christian was fined and lex cath had to forfeit all wins. That would b a shame if T had to forfeit this entire season after winning it all.
  10. Conner wins this one on heart while Franklin County is worried about it being too cold. 3 yards and a cloud of dust the entire game until Franklin County backs down from getting punched in the teeth too many times.
  11. Sounds correct. Unbelievable game. Unbelievable talent on both sides.
  12. Alexander was the best. I remember seeing him play at Henry Clay during the middle of a hot Saturday. He carried the ball 30+ times, played corner back on defense the entire game and played all special teams. He was the biggest cornerback I have ever seen. He scored 5 or 6 touchdowns and plowed over several guys each and every carry. My second choice would have to be Michael Bush. Just ask Trinity. Redmon had the great coaching ability to play him at QB one play, receiver the next, running back next... He was unreal no matter where u put him. The game against Trinity was a loss but was something like 63-62 loss with Braum QB for Trinity in the state championship. It was crazy what all Bush did.
  13. Sound like the scribe is comparing schedules and not results. If #6 beats #7 by 30 there should definitely be more than 1 poll position separating them. Especially when it is at #7's backyard and it could have been 50 if not for called back touchdowns. Even Kentucky has come within 30 a couple of times this year...
  14. One year when Donny Walker was the coach they went 9-1 but lost in the middle of the season to Lex Cath. Actually, they were something like 12-1 until running into Catholic or Highlands to end their season. I can't remember if that was Ammons last year or the year before. If it was Ammons last year, it would have been the year they were beating Catholic bad at halftime and lost to the Princeton Spread during the second half with Revere running wild... By the way, Revere is the only player I have seen faster than Timmons and that includes several speedsters from Male, Fern Creek, and other Louisville schools. This kid is special, as was Revere. I can't wait to see him touch the ball 20 to 25 times in the playoffs, instead of, 10 times a night.
  15. too many thoroughbreds in the Capital City. Speed kills. Although, West Jessamine has a chance if they can force turnovers and run the football down fc throats.
  16. Looks like 41st District has one player in 10 years. That's amazing, considering in 2001 Franklin County won the region and in 2003 Frankfort High was runner up in the region. Daniel Clark from Franklin County was by far the best catcher to come thru the 11th region. He was the MVP of the region and sectional tournament as a catcher/pitcher that hit 15 homeruns. Jason Williams hit 14 homeruns that year and played first base. He was 8 for 8 in the sectional tournament and no-one would pitch to him in the district tournament. Brandon McKee played Center Field and hit 12 homeruns that year. Joe Maciag was a pitcher in 2003 that thru 90+ and all of these guys tore it up in college as well. 3 of the 4 went to Motlow JC and Clark would have been drafted if not deciding to transfer to Kentucky State University because he was homesick. Chris Current played basketball for UofL but was an excellent baseball player as well from Frankfort High. Cam Howell was a catcher for Frankfort High that played for Louisville. You should probably do some homework before submitting an all-star team for 10 years. You might be leaving some guys out that are worthy. Ben Revere is the best player to come through the 11th region over the 10 year period.

  18. I have to agree as well. I have worked w/ Julian on some issues regarding KHSAA and high school sports. He is honest and will tell u the truth whether u like it or not. I would much rather have a commissioner that has a backbone than someone that is wishy-washy and plays the political game behind your back. Julian has worked very hard for high school athletics and knows the ins and outs of the system. If anyone can take us to the next level, it is him. He has the respect of the Board of Directors and has handled football and baseball for several years. He would be the most qualified person to take the position.
  19. I have seen Littrell and Thompson pitch. Littrell is a complete pitcher. Thompson throws hard, real hard, but lacks mental focus at times. Thompson's arm is fine. He pulled a muscle in his forearm but is now throwing 90+. According to sources in Louisville, Littrell has hit 94 mph and is projected to be an early first round pick. Also, you are forgetting one of the best pitchers in the state that signed with UK yesterday. J.T. Riddle at Western Hills played with Littrell all summer and had similar stats. Riddle has hit 90 and plays SS while hitting left-handed. He could be the POY in Ky. Unfortunately, Western Hills graduated 10 seniors and Riddle will be lucky to see a pitch to hit all year. Also, Gott has improved tremendously from last year to now. He is throwing 90 and has a great team returning to play with him. Unfortunately, they are in the toughest district in baseball. He will be lucky to get to the regional tournament. (Lex Cath; Lex Christian; Tates Creek; Lafayette; Paul Dunbar).
  20. Trinity will be the team to beat next year. They have a lefty throwing in the low 90's consistently and hitting as high as 94 mph. Tompkins will have a slew of seniors with experience of going to the state tournament. However, just like the 11th region, no telling who will win to advance to the state tournament. Also, don't count out teams in the 11th. They seem to win the state tournament quite frequently over the past 10 years. With the regional tournament being played at Appleby's Park, they have several games under there belt before going to the state tournament. This is a huge advantage.
  21. Curry probably is 6'5" or 6'6" but 255 is really stretching it. He's probably closer to 225. Any how, he's a BIG quarterback for high school. He has great leadership skills and will do whatever it takes to win. However, he has been fortunate to play on both sides of the football and be injury free over the past 2 seasons. Especially, considering he plays on the defensive line. It is extremely dangerous for a quarterback to play defensive end. One crackback block against a dirty opponent could be the end of his season and considering he has committed to UofL, he shouldn't be playing defensive end. It's one of the most dangerous positions in football. As for Hills, don't get too excited. They will be about the same as last year. They lost 4 kids from last season that anchored the skill positions. Curry will NOT have the homerun threats that he had last year. Also, the secondary will be a huge question mark. I understand that they only lost 4 players but take a look at the stats from last season and you will see that they lost most of the play makers. Unless some of the younger kids can fill that spot, they won't be any better than last year. However, there schedule is fairly weak. The best team on their schedule is probably Frankfort High, who will have a legitimate shot at Class A Championship if they can throw the football by the time they face Beechwood.
  22. It is confirmed. McDonald has told the local newspaper what his pitching rotation will be and it looks like Sturgill will start game 1 for 2 innings to get used to the mound and facility. He will start game 2 vs. HC or LC and they are holding Thompson for the finals against LCA (unless BS can pull off the upset.)
  23. From my understanding, FC will save Thompson for the championship game gambling on round 2 that they can win. According to some sources close to the program, the coaching staff believes there best chance is to throw #2 against HC or LC and save #1 for LCA. I can see both sides of the equation but imo I think u should worry about one game at a time. However, if you are trying to win it, u have to go with a plan to win 3 games instead of just 2. LCA is in the same situation. Will they throw #1 or #2 against BS/MC winner? Both of them could save their aces and get beat, meaning neither of them will get to throw.
  24. The 11th Region Tournament will open Monday at Appleby's Park. 10:00 Lexington Catholic vs. Henry Clay 1:00 Model vs. Franklin County 5:30 Woodford County vs. LCA 8:30 Bryan Station vs. Madison Central Any thoughts or predictions on who will win?
  25. Correction. The final score was 5-2. Thompson gave up 2 runs in the 7th inning because of a misplayed ball in center field that allowed runners to move up from first and second to second and third.
