Nice Article in Lex Herald on their first ever trip to the sweet sixteen. That is what makes the Sweet Sixteen so special. That is why Ky High School Basketball does not need to go to a class system. It is a special event. Congrats to Elliot Co.

I believe that getting assistants would be a problem. Schools usually have assistants that are part of the school system. I think the last 2 years he had one assistant that actually taught at Paris. The rest were volunteers so to speak. There is absolutley nothing wrong with that, but it helps to have your coaches in the school..

First of all I am not a Scott Co. fan nor Lex Cath fan. I was reading the posts on the incident with this young lady after the game. She acted out of emotion. Losing in the district championship is different than losing in the regional tournament. If you lose a district championship, like Lex Cath girls or Tates Creek boys, even though it still hurts you are guaranteed at least one more game. When you lose in the regional it is over. Should we throw stones at this young lady as so many have on here? No. Should the behavior be tolerated? No. Let her coach, parents, administrator or somebody close to her tell her what she done was wrong and that she has to learn to face adversity. Once again she acted out of frustration and hurt. If anyone of us on here has never done anything out of emotion that we have looked back on it and had no remorse for what we done, than please post that you are perfect and you and only you who are perfect have the right to judge her. Let the girl be...She will look back someday and realize what she done, she doesn't need us correcting her behavior....

What Paris does depends on Dumphord. I think some people in Paris are wanting a change from the current coach. There has been a steady decline in the past couple of years.

There is some ability at Paris. They could be a very good team, they do have some athletes.

Congratulations. You represented the 10th region well. Just curious, I know the winners of the sweet sixteen order rings, does the winner of the All "A" order championship rings. It would be nice if they did. Not everyone gets a shot in life to get a championship ring.......I know Hazard did a couple of years ago, just curious if it is the norm for the All "A" state champion to do the same as sweet sixteen winners and order championship rings....

What does Starns teach at JCHS? (Is he a history, PE, math teacher etc)

He is a very gifted basketball player. What type of kid is he off the court? (meaning work ethic, leadership things of that nature)

What is wrong with Paris? I have watched their younger kids play a couple of games, I saw their Freshman against Montgomery Co. and their JV against Montgomery Co. both Paris teams won these games, they seem to have some ability there in the younger kids, the varsity doesn't seem to play with any passion, I don't know though... (I am not knocking Bracken's win, Paris has struggled the last 2-3 years, just curious why)

Can you order videos or DVD's from past state tournament games from the KHSAA?

A championship ring is a sign of the ultimate triumph in sports. I would love to have a championship ring. Any kid that is a part of a state championship team deserves a ring. Congrats to everyone who has one. A championship ring is something not a lot of people posses, but something a lot of people would like to have.

Just a quick question. I have seen on here comments made about a "Christmas Walk" Is that a football thing or is it a community parade, it sounds like a lot of football talk goes on there, just curious as to what it is. Thanks........

Good for him, let him take his traveling circus and baggage to the West Coast. Is he a gifted athelete? Of course he is. But there is always some sort of "drama" that surrounds him, maybe it is not him, maybe it is the people that is around him, but there I am sure at times it can be a headache for the program and coach (I am referring to his high school team, not when he gets to college).

Any time a kid is a part of a state championship team, they should get a ring. The trophy is nice, but you can't carry it with you everywhere. To me a state championship and a big ring go hand in hand. A championship ring to a man is what an engagement ring is to a woman... On a different note, does anyone know of a team that has been in the finals and not won and ordered rings for being in the finals. The reason I ask is that some colleges who make the final four and don't win the championship, order rings for getting to the final four. Just curious......

Paris could make a push for this title, but they only won 4 games last year. They have some talent, but I don't know what their problem is. I would like to see them turn this program around, but it seems to be going down hill. So my pick is Bishop Brossart.....

Paris came out with some emotion that they had not showed all year. It just wasn't enough. Raceland was the better team. Every time Paris was able to score or threaten, Raceland stepped up and answered. Hats off to Raceland on a good game. I know there are some Paris people who will be pulling for Raceland this week. Good luck against LCA!!!!!!!

I would say Raceland and LCA have the best linebackers. The Paris Linebackers don't "fly" to the football the way LB's should. Paris' LBs seem to run into blocks. Paris does have a bright spot at LB for the future. It is Chase Dumphord's little brother Cody. He is a freshman, he will come up and stick you, he starts right now, he has made some freshman mistakes, but he is going to be good.

Another problem I see is that they don't have to prove themselves for the position, fight for it, if they had to compete against three or four more others that were just as good, they might put more effort into it... You summed it up perfectly with this statement.

I don't know why they would be eager to play basketball, because there is no direction at the top there (but that is another thread in another forum)... These kids don't understand the tradition of Paris, or maybe that they don't care. The Paris kids just seem to be okay with being average. Whether it is football or even in basketball from what I have seen. Players have to have an inner desire to want to be good. I think the players at Paris want to be good, but they don't want to put in the work that it takes to become good. I have seen some of these kids get challenged, and when they get challenged, they come up with excuses of why they didn't this, or "it is not my fault". If Paris had the desire of a "Raceland" or an "LCA" they would be pretty tough. At some point in your life you have to be tired of only beating mediocre teams, and want to rise to the next level.... I am not sure how this game is going to end up tonight. I want to say Paris is going to rebound from last week, but I just don't know.

First hats off to the Raceland coach and administration for being classy and moving the game back to 8:00 to accomodate the travel for Paris. I believe there are a lot of coaches that would not do that. From everything I have seen the last couple of years, Vanderhoof (SP?) runs a classy program. Should they win tonight, I will be pulling for Raceland throughout the rest of the way. Tonight's game will be a good game. Paris did make adjustments in the second half and were able to hold the Rams in check, so to speak. Raceland made the big plays last week, when they had to. That is what good teams do. I hope that Paris comes ready to play, I feel last week they were not ready to play, (not taking anything away from Raceland, because they played a good game). If Paris comes in and "walks" around and goes half-speed (like they do sometimes) this game will be over in the 1st quarter and Raceland will head up to LCA next week.....

What number did the kid wear who got hurt? I was at the game and didn;t see anything appear to be intentional, but on a film you are able to slow things down and really look at things. I don't think Paris would go out and intentionally hurt a kid. But like I said, I have not seen the film.

Raceland had the big plays in Round 1 (A fumble for a TD, a punt return for a TD, Paris Fumbeled and Raceland scored on the next possession, and a 73 yard bomd for a TD) If Paris was able to keep Raceland from making these big plays, then you could have had a 24-8 ballgame. Hats off to Raceland for being ready to play. I believe you make your own breaks and Raceland made the breaks in round 1. Paris did the samething against Raceland that they did against Frankfort and LCA, they laid down. The Paris Greyhounds are creatures of comfort. When they face a weaker team they are all over them, but in their 3 losses this year, they laid down, because they were hit in the mouth from the beginning to the end. Round 2: Paris did some good things in the 2nd half, they held Raceland to one score. This game Friday night comes down to whether or not Paris can find their heart this week. If they can't, then Raceland travels to LCA the following week. If they do find it, then I honestly believe that Paris will beat Raceland. Do the Paris players believe they have a shot though?
