  1. It would be rough on people from Montgomery Co. or Clark Co. if it was at Mason Co. So I think an inconvenience of having to drive a little bit can be over looked for an opportunity to play in the regional tournament, wherever it is held.
  2. From everything I saw, it was ran really well. It was a good change. I think that Montgomery should get their shot again when it comes back around......I know there are ome die hard fieldhouse folks. I am sure there were some things that people were not happy with, but I hope that it doesn't turn into nit-picking and criticizing every little thing. Good luck to Mason in Rupp. Go bring home the hardware....
  3. With all of these kids supposedly transferring in, why would Knott get rid of their coach? Someone stated earlier that their coach was doing a good job. Didn't Knott use to be a 14th region power back in the early 90's?
  4. Does he (Cox) have to sit out a year for transferring?
  5. This is all done over a schduling conflict at GRC. There is play going on that weekend. The tournament could have went on to the next school in the rotation but is my understanding from talking to some people that Clark did not want to give it up. Which I understand why they wouldn't want to give it up. I would rather play Paris at Clark Co. than play Paris @ Paris. Oh well, what is done is done, whether we like it or not.
  6. Isn't Coach Brooks already in as a player? I maybe wrong about this, but I thought he was in as a player.......
  7. Is there a rule going into effect in 08-09 that 7th graders on up must attend that feeder schools high school when they are freshmen or be ineligible their freshman year? I am not stating this as fact, I was wondering if I dreamed this or actually heard this. Has anybody else heard this, it seemed a year or two ago that was mentioned. (I know this is not about Jeffersontown but an above post mentioned 6th and 7th graders getting swayed, so I thought I would throw it in)
  8. I think some would argue that getting a ring without winning the state championship would devalue the accomplishment of getting a ring. If a team is a runner-up or a semi-finalist, I don't see why they couldn't order a ring if they wanted. It is done on the next level. But at the same time I see the side that says the only way you should get a ring is for winning state and that is what makes it special, but if a team has a historic run and makes it to the finals and loses, I don't see a problem with them getting a ring that says runner up or even semi-finalist.. The NFL teams that lose the Super Bowl still get a ring for winning their respective conference. What are anyone else's thoughts?
  9. Has a high school team in Ky bought a ring from being runner up. I know some colleges get rings for making it to a bowl game even if they don't win. I think it was in 2002 maybe, Georgetown College football made it to the championhsip game and didn't win, but they did get rings for making it there. I guess this would be the same in high school. If you look at College basketball, if a team wins a conference and then gets beat in the 1st or 2nd rd of the NCAA tourney, that team will get a conference ring. If a team in high school basketball wins the region and makes it to the sweet 16 but doesn't win, is it wrong for them to order a ring for winning their region. Have any schools done this? (I am sorry, I know this is a football forum, but is on the subject of rings) Just curious....
  10. After watching the clip, they went to the floor because the girl from Harrison Co. threw Brooks to the ground. On the clip, she then hit Brooks while she was on the ground. Brooks got up and appeared to be heading down the court, and then she turned around and hit the girl from Harrison. It appeared as if she (Brooks) was going to run on down the floor and the girl from Harrison grabbed her arm, and that is when Brooks turned around and swung. No matter, the clip said both were ejected and have to sit out a game. There is no doubt in the the clip as to how they got to the ground and it wasn't by an elbow from Brooks.............
  11. I think Paris comes out on top on this one. They did look pretty bas against Sayre. I don't know, flip a coin....:dancingpa
  12. I think Paris is that down. They lost a lot of scoring from last year's team. Paris is going to have trouble scoring all year. I would, however, like to see them turn up their defense, I don't think they apply enough pressure. :flame::flame:
  13. Thank you for making this crystal clear. The last thing Paris needs is another change. I am glad to hear that this was only a rumor.
  14. I was wondering if anybody on here could clear up a rumor of the Paris head coach looking to leave Paris? I am not stating this as fact. I have heard this rumor though. I was wondering if anybody could verify it or go ahead and squash it. He has only been there for one season. He came in with a lot of hype, and when they faced difficult times, he seemed to not handle it well. Has anybody else heard this?.... On a different note good luck to LCA Friday. I hope you make it to the carpet. I would like to see a fellow district foe bring home a ring......
  15. Why would they? What is going to be the benefit of combining these schools other than sports. I am a huge sports fan, but there are more than sports to look at. If I am not mistaken Paris is top 20 High School in the state in terms of test scores (if they are not in the top 20 they are close). They are way too many people that have a strong passion for Paris. I have said this on here before, I have never heard anybody that has ties with the Paris system talk about combining. Whenver talk of combining comes up, it is always somebody from the Bourbon side mentioning that the 2 schools need to combine. As far as basketball goes. Paris has the athletes to compete. The kids are not being "pushed" the way they need to be.
  16. The only bright spot for Paris is their Frosh and JV teams......
  17. Good Call!!! I believe he also sported a pair of boots with his Leisure Suit.... That is my vote......:walk:
  18. Won't happen. Not for about 20 years anyway. As far as academics Paris is stronger than Bourbon Co. Consolidation won't happen. I am against this totally..... I will say that everytime consolidation is brought up, it always brought up by Bourbon Co. I have never heard anyone from Paris wish to combine. Back to the game... Paris - 21 Bourbon Co. - 14 (In Double Overtime)
  19. I agree. I think this can be one of the best games between these 2 teams in a long time. I think both are pretty even. The only thing Bourbon has is more numbers. While both of these teams has struggled this year, this doesn't mean it can't be a good game. Anything is possible when these 2 teams meet. Is there any truth that the Bourbon QB is sidelined with an injury this week? I personally would like to see more out the so called "dogs" on Paris' defense. They should be doing more than what they are doing. A lot of times these LBs are not attacking, they are passive at times. Yes, they will make the tackle, but it will be 5-6 yards downfield. Your first step has to be downhill. I would like to see them go out and get after it Friday night...It is the last game, because Paris is not in the playoffs this year.
  20. Was there a press conference announcing this? How did we find out this is official? (I am glad it is, I just wanted to know if it is fact)
  21. Come November Raceland will be right in the thick of things. They are a bunch of hard nosed kids...I will agree with the Paris coach on one thing. Whoever comes out of the district with LCA/Raceland/Paris has a legitimate shot to get to the carpet. I am not counting out Pikeville or those other Eastern Ky teams, but in the past there was no real shot because Beechwood and New Cath were so dominant. It might be LCA or Raceland, who knows. What does Fairview have this year? One last question: When was the last time Beechwood or New Cath did not represent this side of the state in the championship game? (this side being the eastern side)
  22. I gotcha. Like I said not trying to get anything started. I do think within in the next 5 years LCA will win a state championship.....
  23. Is LCA tops in 1A football? I know Paris isn't. When I think of tops in 1A football, I think of Beechwood or Mayfield (I don't even know if they are still in class A)... I don't think LCA is tops in 1A yet. Will they be someday? Yes, but right now, I say no. Just because they have not won the region or been to the semi's or finals. Not trying to stir up any feathers, but this is my opinion. I will say they are tops in this district.
  24. Paris is going to take some knocks like they already have. I will say that I believe Coach Thompson has them heading in the right direction. Things will turn around eventually for this team....
