With their recent loss to Lawrence County the not so Golden Eagles are now 7-11 (2-4 in district). It looks like they will more than likley be in the 4th and 5th seed play-in game in the 57th district tournament. If they were to win they would end up facing Paintsville. My question is what has happened? Most people thought they would finish near the top of the region and they are closer to the bottom. Starns, was made out by some JC fans to be the best coach in the region but has made some poor decisions this season. The transfer was a complete bust and has proven an inability to win. Every school he plays at suffers. McCarty seems to care more about scoring than Wins.

What has happend to JC and can anything be done?:confused:

McCarty has to score for the Golden Eagles to win. Crum is no BUST either. He does a very good job at the Point. After the release of Jessie Meek the Golden Eagles only return one starter. They are a young team with 1 fresh. and 2 sophs in the starting lineup. Coach Starns is a good coach and he does a great job with these kids.

Mark Starns is an excellent coach, I'm sure he will surprise someone in the postseason. I know he's missed up here.

Don't forget he had 2 Division 1 athletes(Lofton and Grutza). Makes coaching a lot easier,would think.

If you are talking about Crum you are wrong! Nice player, Great person! From what I seen at the LexCath tourney they are having trouble in other areas.

Coach Starns is a good coach and an even better person. He and his team will be okay by the end when it matters the most. And if not, I sure someone else would love to have him on their sidelines.

Starns knows basketball, nobody will argue that. I think the problem is the way Starns runs the team. It's like he is back in the NBA with Patino.

You cannot blame one player for a 7-11 record! At the LexCath tourney I saw a few "issues" with the team that the TEAM needs to deal with if they want to improve. One, or two players cannot carry the entire team every game, the entire TEAM needs to give some support as well. He did very well on his summer team, but then again that team did not have the issues that JC needs to work out.

He was never the head coach at Mason county either. They wouldn't have him as head coach. I don't blame them for shipping him out. His personality is about like a rock. Very dry person who couldn't carry on a conversation with anybody.

About Crum he needs to become more vocal and more offensive minded. He plays hard which is not true for some of our players. People seem to forget we lost a bunch of players from last year and we are relatively young.

Excellent post. Sometimes, a coach cannot overcome the internal problems that a team may have. People need to realize how young Central is. I really like the way that Robert Smith (Freshman) plays. He will only get better.

It' simply a chemistry problem. Starnes should have this turned around by March one way (reaching the regional to defend their title) or another (losing in the district and watching certain players graduate).
