You cannot blame one player for a 7-11 record! At the LexCath tourney I saw a few "issues" with the team that the TEAM needs to deal with if they want to improve. One, or two players cannot carry the entire team every game, the entire TEAM needs to give some support as well. He did very well on his summer team, but then again that team did not have the issues that JC needs to work out.

 

He may have done well on a summer team, but he always plays poorly when big games come. They (JC) have 2 players that in the 15th region are as good as anyone, but still only have 7 wins to show for it. Starns has made some suspect moves (The way he handled the player that was dismissed) but at some point you have to look at players and realize that they are all talk and no show. His record as a starter speaks for itself. JC had a kid that transfered into the program with a tendency to lose. That could have a LOT to do with their struggles. Winners have a winning attitude and losers have a losing attitude.

So your saying all of their problems are because of the kid that transfered in from SC. Just because he hasn't been on teams with winning records doesn't mean he has a losing attitude. I think the problem with JC this year has always been there not a kid who transferred in from a team that didn't have a great win - loss %.

What does Starns teach at JCHS? (Is he a history, PE, math teacher etc)

If we were talking about a sport such as wrestling, where you alone are in control of the outcome of the event and not relying on others to help then you can blame one athlete. I have seen JC play a couple of times so far this year and there are other "issues," not one player. I know Jaryd personally, as I am the coach of his summer team! And Jaryd does in fact have a winning attitude!

 

As Eagle1 stated, just because a player hasn't been on a high school team with winning records doesn't mean a thing. I guess we can look at several college or pro players and blame the teams lackluster record on JUST ONE player? LOL

I have seen Johnson Central play most of their home games this year. They have a young team and are playing hard in every game. As the regional champions they have a big target on their backs and every team they have played is playing extra hard to beat them. The one away game I did get to was the Lawrence County game. The players and fans stormed the floor when the game was over like they had just won the state tournament.

 

The kids on the team are great young men and the coaching staff is among the best in the state.

 

Keep playing hard team, and listen to your coaches. With what I have seen this year you will be right back in the hunt when March rolls around
