Russell was short in players tonight but played very well. The devils were sluggish in the 2nd half but their defense really stepped up and played good. Russell's JV with travel to Raceland next Monday. :fire::fire:

I hope this one isnt a blow out. I would like to see a very exciting game between the two schools. But with the way Russell has looked over the past couple of weeks I say it will. Game starts off close but Raceland pulls away in 2nd half. Raceland 35 Russell 17

Certainly glad to be at home with dark jerseys, by the 2nd quarter we might invisible.

Here's the deal, the top seven basketball players in the school will play, in most high schools the other eight really don't matter they won't play much anyway. I don't care if they played football, soccer, or nothing the best will play. Every year little Bobbie and Billie (along with their parents) get their feeling hurt because an outsider takes their playing time. It's not how dedicated you are over the summer it's how you put the ball in the hoop. Sounds like the coach has a son or is good friends with little Bobbies parents.

I wonder what would have happened had these boys just transferred into the district. They would have tried out just like the rest of the team. I have never heard of a coach singling out players making them try out under totally different circumstances. You just cut them. Coaches have generally a different attitude when football season is over.

It would be a good move. Maybe another 2A title.:thumb:

Yes they should, because there would not be officials at JFL games. Officials were in short supply. Most officials I know have a kid playing football or basketball at some level. The officials who had kids playing were always harder on his kids team for fear of being partial. I always hated to see a ref show up at one of his sons games. Plus most ref JFL for the love of the game, not the money nor to give an advantage to a particular team.

I agree a player should never be cut in football unless its for disciplinary reasons. If you have a problem parent then the administration should cut the parent

Greenup dressed 35 or more players. Rister is a talented kid. Imo I think that particular spread offense is too difficult for them. Most varsity teams don't have the receivers required for it, and the fact that Russell played a pretty good game.
