A very nice win for the Tomcats. I just had a good feeling all week about this game. This group of Tomcats seems to be getting better every week. I'm looking forward to next week's Super 7, and see if Jeepman has changed his mind any about the Tomcats.

They ran all over Russell tonight. Huge yards from the running game for Ashland. The young QB for Ashland didn't do much tonight, he didn't have to the way the were running the ball. Probably a perfect recipe for a Freshman in his first varsity start.

 

I believe Ashland had 3 or 4 turnovers also. Hard to win losing the ball that much but Ashland still managed to crush Russell.

 

Again, congrats to the Tomcats. I wanted to make sure I got that in before this one gets closed:lol:

I just talked to a family member that was at this game and he told me that Ashland completely dominated every phase of this game and had the Tomcats not made as many mistakes and turnovers it would had been a lot worse. This guy is a big Russell fan btw.

 

I felt that Ashland would win in a close one (had played a much tougher schedule) but I did not think they would dominate Russell like this.

Coach Kidwell may get a few basketball players early this year unless the Devils can rebound from this loss.

Congratulations to the Tomcats on a great showing. Bottom line is Ashland pushed Russell all over the field at the line of scrimmage. Ashlands Defense spent most of the night in the Russell backfield thus negating the running game and the passing game. Even with four Ashland turnovers Russell had no answer. Once again Congratulations Ashland.

 

Russell will regroup lick the wounds and be ready for next week.

Well I guess I better come on here, and take my medicine like a man. This was definitely a different Ashland team than the one I saw in week one, and they forwarded me the opportunity to leave the game early, and beat the crowd. Ashland completely dominated all facets of the ballgame tonight. As much as I blamed Coach Hart after the Raceland game, I have to give him credit tonight. He has definitely brought along his team rather nicely. One thing, other than the score that I was disappointed in tonight, was how undisciplined this Russell team was. I haven't seen that from a Russell team in a long time. I better leave it at that, before I get myself into trouble. Congrats to the Tomcats on the win. Your season certainly seems a lot brighter than it did after week one, and Russell's certainly doesn't seem as bright as I thought it might be.

Well, I'll confirm that Ashland dominated each and every phase of the game. Russell was indeed undisciplined. 2 unsportsmanlike penalties, numerous false starts put them in 3rd and longs. Arm tackled like I've never seen before. I can't remember which poster it was who said that Russell would not get beat on the ground, they were not only beat on the ground but they were, in fact, beat into it.
