Ashland 36 Russell 10

Featured Replies

I have never seen The Russell defensive front bounce around in so many different alignments. They appeared to trying to guess where the Tomcats were going to run the ball next. One time they would be in a straight 50 front, the next time they would cover both guards and the center. I was surprised they did not bring more people up on the ball than Ashland had blockers. A 6-2 look or even a gap 8. Russell was outmanned in their 50.

After seeing Ashland scrimmage Mason County a few weeks ago, it was obvious that this is not last year's Tomcats. I'm not surprised that Ashland won, but the margin is a shocker.

Congrats to the Tomcats, and I'm sure that Russell will bounce back quickly.

I have never agreed with this type of statement! When you lose, you lose. You don't get "good things" out of loses. YOU get exposed! Russell was totally exposed tonight.

Poor tackling team (Boyd & Ashland), and poor blocking (Ashland), not that intense and out of shape.

May be a short season?

Congrats to the Tomcats!! Big win tonight. Good for Coach Hart. He's a good coach who has been taking some unfair attacks lately. I'm happy that Ashland seems to have things turned around. They will need it come district play. That district is a beast!! Good luck Tomcats! Congrats again!!

Easy dawg, that may be just what the doctor ordered. This isn't Coaches first county fair. He'll fix what is broke. I look for the Devils to get back on track. I suspect that when the East Carter coaches read this game thread, they'll be thinking,,,"Great, we get them even better prepared and sore after a loss". Have a little faith.:thumb:

I have been saying it all week Russell does not have the "D" they had last year. Ashland was to much for the Devils. Man they ran it down hill all night.

Were you there?

Congrats to Ashland.....Way to bounce back...I hope I will be saying the same thing to Russell next week.

Does anyone know if Russell spends any practice time on drop back passing? Spreading the field with formations, shotgun etc?

No I was listening to it on 97.1 FM.

:thumb::thumb: Absolutely.

SpinD, you are right! McGlone will know what to do, that's a given. But when I look at both Ashland's and Russell's schedule.

I see Russell going 3 - 3 and ending the season with 3 straight losses, with two weeks off and heading into the playoffs on a low note as the #2 seed.

Ashland will go 3-3 also but only on a two game losing streak heading into their playoffs as the #4 seed (tough dist).
