Seniors should not be playing any JV, PERIOD! I can see underclassmen playing but not a senior.

Apparently, that is the situation at Boone Co. I made some phone calls; I found this pretty amazing, there has only been one athletic scholarship come out of Boone County's basketball program in the last 5 years and that was McFarland.

The recruitment from Asbury came too late in the year. Asbury was already out of scholarship money. I hate it for Mikey because he should have received a scholarship somewhere. Boone County's coach should have helped him get a scholarship. He's too good a player to be walking on somewhere.

Not sure about prior years but this year with the talent they had, there should have been a few more players getting scholarships. ie. Earls, Cotton, Gabbard and possibly Shultz (sp?)

Congratulations to Ryan! It's good to finally see a Boone Co. player going on to the next level to play basketball. Ryan is a great basketball talent and has a motor that doesn't stop. He should fit in very well with TMC's offensive game plan. I can see him contributing at the varsity level as a freshman. Good luck Ryan!

Davis is very good for a 14 year old. He has above athletic ability and is long. Handled himself very well against varsity competition in the 11th Region. His biggest problem is his strength (which one would expect with a 14 year old). He does have the ability to take the ball to the basket and can shoot the short jumper. Has good footwork but stilll very green at the post. Trys to shoot a hook shot sometimes but doesn't have very good control over it. Jumps and reaches when rebounding, uses his length to get to the ball, isn't strong enough to positon himself and box out, yet. He definitely will be a player, he will be one of the premier players in the state by the time he is a senior. Davis will have some battles with the big 8th grader (freshman to be) out of Sayre, Dakari Johnson. I actually think Johnson will be the better of the two. I would be suprised to see Johnson stay at Sayre, my guess he will go to another high school with some better support around him. Dakari Johnson is going to be a BIG time player.

Wow! DII with only 600 students, his high school was probably at least 3 times larger than Erskine. What determines if a school is DI, DII or NAIA? It definitely must not be size.

There won't be anymore good tournaments until July. High School basketball is going on in KY and Ohio the first three weeks in June.

Cosby is still in a prep school in Mass. He can't come back and play high school in KY, he reclassified from a 2010 to a 2011 last year when he went to prep school. His four years of high school eligibility is up. He can play another year in prep school but not a sanctioned high school association. However, you add a 6'10" UofL Recruit and Kimbro to what J-town has coming back, they will be a legit top 5 team next year.

The Bob Gibbons Tournament of Champions in Chapel Hill, NC is usually Memorial Day weekend. If your team does not have an invitation, it's probably too late to get in it. I believe this is "invitation only" for the top AAU teams across the nation.

If they have a player from Cleveland, then he would not be legal. Cleveland is in another AAU Association not a boundry association to KY. I believe its the Erie Association. Out of state players can play but they have to be from a bordering association.

Don't have a kid playing high school ball. Just enjoy the game.

NKY better look out for a new type of basketball! Finally a head coach comes to NKY with a push the ball type offense and full court press defense. The old "slow it down" walk the ball up the court, teams better watch out. ie. Ryle, Boone, BB, St. Henry, New. Cath, Cov. Cath. Dixie, etc. For the teams in NKY, playing Holmes will be like playing teams from Louisville and Central KY!

What does he have to do with Mackey, he left the program three years ago. What other issues does he have? I bet 99% of the coaches in the state would like to have the issue of dealing with coaching in the final four of the Sweet Sixteen. I'm sure Hicks is a very happy man dealing with constantly having one of the top teams in the state year in and year out. The only negative vibe, is the negative vibe that those put out that are jealous of Scott Co. put out or post on sites like this. I'm sure as long as those whining don't sign Hicks check, he could care less. Hicks has a program that draws good players. Wow, what a problem to have! If other coaches and communities don't like it, build a program like Scott Co's and "they will come". Does anyone actually think that Scott Co. is buying houses and getting jobs for people to bring their kids to Scott Co.? NO WAY, he plays a high profile schedule, constantly goes to the state tournament and puts players in college to play basketball and get a free education. What parent would not want that for their kid if he has the desire to play at the next level? Maybe those that don't have programs like Hicks has, should look at their program and coach and figure out why their team and program is not as successful as Scott Co's.

It's easy to say "that could", it's a lot harder to have those "that do".

I'll tell you what attending the camp will do; Curtis Washington (Elizabethtown HS) attended his camp last summer and was the camp MVP, and all of a sudden he became the top rated Senior (according to Bolus Rankings) in KY for the 2009/10 school year. Washington is a good player, but I question him being the #1 Senior with college potential in the entire state of KY. I know he quit his team in the middle of the third quarter of one of his high school games in January 2010 and went up and sat in the bleachers and never did return to the team the rest of the season. What's Washington's status? Does anyone know?

Kowolonek plays taller than he actually is. He has a knack for being in the right place at the right time. He is a very good rebounder and scores most of his points around the basket; from offensive rebounds, back door cuts or another guard penetrating and kicking the ball to him. He is also physically strong and can finish around the rim, he has above average leaping ability and is quick off his feet. If there is any area of his game that he needs to improve, is his ball handling and outside shot. He didn't have a stellar senior year due to problems with his knees, but he is a great team player and fairly strong defender. He will fit in very will at Transylvania. :thumb: JMO from the games I've seen him play.
