Boone PG Mike Gabbard is going to walk on at WKU.

Congrats to Mikey!

Gabbard right.

Is he a preferred walk on or he is just going to tryout and see what happens?

Another thread said that his old AAU coach helped him get a "preferred" walk-on position on the team.

Article said he was a preferred walk-on.

Congrats to Mikey. Anyone who knows this kid personally knows how unreal his work ethic is.

He's the type of kid that has worked for everything he has and I wish him nothing but the best.

I enjoyed watching Gabbard play, he's the epitome of a PG.

Heard Gabbard is leaving WKU. Anyone know where he is heading? Is it just me or do lots of players leave their schools are a year or two?

Gabbard earned a full ride at WKU after the first semester. After the season he decided to transfer and will be going to Erskine.

I had heard that he was informed that he would not be on scholly for the 2011-12 season and that was why he left. Wonder if something similar might happen to Polson at UK?

He earns a full scholarship, then decides to leave for a team that was 3-23 last year?..Good luck to him.

Getting to play is what it's all about.

Do you know that he wans't going to play at WKU? I thought he played some as a freshman as a walk-on? My thinking is, if the schools gives a player a full scholarship, they probably have that player in their plans for the future.

Usually not a good sign when scholly gets pulled.
