Stephen Kowolonek, a 6-2 forward from Highlands HS, will sign with Transylvania University on Thursday, May 20, at 2:45pm in the Highlands HS library. Stephen was a three year starter for Highlands and was named to several all-district, all-conference, all area, and all-region teams. Stephen also surpassed 1,000 points in his career at Highlands.

Ben Watson, a 6-4 forward, will sign with Centre College on Thursday, May 20, at 2:45pm in the Highlands HS library. Ben was named to several all-district, all-conference, and all-area teams in his career. Watson was a three-year starter for the Bluebirds.

Garrett Smith-Keller, a 6-4 senior forward from Highlands HS, will sign with Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa, at a ceremony in the Highlands HS Library on May 20, at 2:45pm. Garrett alternated between starting and a sixth-man role for the Bluebirds during his senior season and was the team’s top three-point shooter boasting a robust 40.2% from the three point stripe.

WOW!!! I don't know if 3 guys off HHS have gone on to play basketball. Congrats to all and wish them the best of luck.

Congrats to all these fine players, their families, and coaches! All three are better people than they are players...and they are darn good players!

Had the conversation with my oldest after reading this on the school website.

I always like read about players going on to play and getting a quality education. Congrats to all :dancingpa

Congrats to the boys. That's great stuff. As UCRN mentioned, they are all very, very nice young men. But particular congrats to Ben for choosing Centre. Always nice to see another Bluebird choose the Praying Colonels! :thumb:

This is a great group of young men. All three colleges are getting good basketball players and good students. The whole Highlands senior group was a blast to watch and handle themselves with class and poise. Good luck to all of them in their future endeavors.

Three players off of one team going to play college and they won how many games??

That list is testimony to doing well at a highly ranked ACADEMIC high school. Regardless of how the basketball goes, these young men will be getting great educations to take them through their lives while enjoying their chosen sport in college. Congrats to all!!

I'm sure Ben is like most Bluebirds in that they always aspire to be a Colonel.:thumb:

Congrats to all three young men and good luck at the next level!

They actually have legitimately 5-6 who could have gone on and played at the collegiate level but a couple chose not to pursue it and will be attending NKU. If you throw Grubbs in the mix who could have played hoops somewhere but chose football, this was a very very good SR class. They had some bad breaks with injuries this season and never really had a full squad playing together.

Congrats to Ben/Stephen and Garrett, they were all fun to watch throughout their careers.

This was a fun class to watch coming up through the ranks. Best of luck to their continued success. I agree with the observation that Grubbs could also be moving on to play hoops at the next level. Congratulations to them and to Coach Schlarman and Coach Flynn.
