The Cannon in Ft. Thomas, "Is it the 12th man"?
The cannon has been a part of Highland's tradition (and folklore) for many, many years. It's just woven into the fabric of Bluebird football. It helps define who they are. However, it's not the 12th man! Stop their offense (if that's possible) and the cannon is silent......

Boone County 42 Campbell County 13 (6A)
Austin Studer played a great game. His TD pass reception was amazing. Both Doucette (BC) and Bishop (CC) had equally great catches for TDs. The Bishop pass was a post route where the ball appeared to be overthrown. He made an incredible leap and dive to make the catch. Bishop will be a big weapon for CC in 2008.

Boone County 42 Campbell County 13 (6A)
Farris had a few nice long runs but was otherwise held in check. Just guessing 120 yards total. The CC Defense did their job. You just never know when he's going to break one. Who will fill his shoes on '08?

Boone County 42 Campbell County 13 (6A)
The CC staff was conservative with Rose following injuries during both the SK & Dixie games. He played the role of pass blocker most of the night and did a good job. The CC passing game was effective.

Dixie Heights 41 Campbell Co. 13
CC (a respectable 6-4) must now put this season behind them (although they have showed signs of greatness at times) and focus on the 2nd season (the playoffs). The slate is clean! We beat BC in their house last year and we can do it again. Maloney played as advertised. Dettmer is a thoroughbred. However, I was particularly impressed with the run of Conner Brock after he replaced the injured Maloney. That particular TD run was amazing. He looked as though he was shot out of a cannon. He must have 4.5 speed? Congrats to the Colonels on their win. They are peaking at the right time.:fire: CC, on the other hand, will be no pushover next Friday at Owen Hauck Stadium.:fight: Believe and Achieve Camels!

NCC 26 Campbell County 23
I thought both teams played a hard fought, even match. Both teams were not @ 100% on the personnel side due to sickness & injury. The sound system @ Newport Stadium does not match the awesome field surface. I would have saved a few grand from the field and invested in a better sound system. The National Anthem came across as wounded dog (I'm sorry to say). PA announcer did a good job and the pre-game prayer was excellent. Again, awesome game to watch as a fan. Hopefully a great rivalry for years to come!:thumb:

Campbell Couny 27 Mason County 7
A 7-7 ballgame in the 4th Quarter? No way. CC had their way all night long on both sides of the ball. CC Offense is improving with each week. Lots of weapons. QB Eshman (#14) showed great poise & athleticism in his inaugural start. Glad to see MC on the schedule as this will surely become an annual "Battle Royale".:fight: Great job Camels! Also, an outstanding showing by Camel Fan Caravan to Maysville.

Campbell County 53 Pendleton County 19
I would like to give some props to the PC players & coaching staff. Many of their players had to play both sides of the ball all night long. There was no quit in their game! If PC plays to this level each week, they will get their fair share of wins. I was skeptical when they were added to the CC schedule for '07. However, they were a formidable opponent for much of the 1st half. They have some speed & athleticism but depth is an issue. Good job Wildcats! :thumb:

Campbell County 28 Tates Creek 14
I agree with Silver Shadow on this one. As I recall, over 20,000 lbs. of crumb rubber was infused into the soil. It would have been near impossible to vacuum this material from the field. I'm guessing every Hoover in Alexandria would not have been enough to pull that job off! Let's see if Logic works here: Black rubber draws heat -- Bermuda grass loves heat -- Field looks great! However, I don't think the same logic would apply for Tar and Bermuda......(just kidding Camel Fan).

Mr Phillips"The Voice of the Pirates" needs our prayers.
My prayers go out to Mr. Phillips and his wife. The Belfry faithful need you back in the booth. Wishing you a speedy recovery from the Fighting Camels...:thumb:

Are Highlands freshmen going to keep the "streak" going??
I like the Camels chances this year vs. the baby Birds. This may be the single best class of freshmen @ CC in recent memory (maybe ever). And...no canon. The game will be played at CC. Should be a good one!

Campbell Co.'s Friday Night Scrimmages??
Yes, I do realize that they are in Class 6A. The Camel squad has good size in their own right and they are very physical. However, I saw 2 or 3 BS starters that were 300 lbs plus range. I must agree with TRAGS, I seriously doubt that Boone has the kind of size that I witnessed out of Bryan Station on Friday night.

Campbell Co.'s Friday Night Scrimmages??
I missed the Scrimmage #1 vs. Bellevue but understand that CC handled them pretty well. Scrimmage #2 featured a rather large Lexington Bryan Station team. IMO a very well coached / disciplined group. The BS running back (his name escapes me) is a complete package. He made a one-handed catch down the middle of the field for TD that would have made Brandon Griffin envious. The Camel 1st Offense played 2 series vs. the Bryan Station 1st D and moved the ball very well. Series #2 saw the Camels O ramble to the 1/2 foot line. Play #9 was a QB sneak that was stopped. Play #10 was mis-handled on the snap by QB Andrew Eshman and the result was a no score by the Camels. Eshman, however, showed a great deal of poise for a Sophomore vs. (did I mention) a very big Bryan Station group. Overall, the Camels played Bryan Station tough. A pretty even match overall.

Campbell County/Ashland Scrimmage
By my count: * CC 6 scores (4 by 1st Team O vs. 1st Team D) * Ashland 4 scores (1 by 1st Team O vs. 1st Team D) Great afternoon for football & large crowd for a scrimmage. Bob Miller Stadium Bermuda turf looked incredible. Best that I have seen in 25 years! Solid start for the Camels but they must play with intensity each and every play. Great overall depth, speed, and Team strength. Still too early to evaluate all areas. However, the Camel D performed as advertised during the 1st two Ashland Offensive series (20 plays). Not sure if the Tomcats gained a combined 10 yards during this stretch. However, as the afternoon wore on, the Tomcats had some limited success running the ball.

2007 Ashland
I thought after the first series or two that the Camels might run away with this one. However, Ashland showed some great athleticism and heart. The starting QB is a tough kid and has good speed. I agree...football can't get here fast enough. Good Luck to the Tomcats :thumb: this season. A class organization with a great deal of tradition and fan support!

Brossart home games
Thanks for the update Mustang. Perhaps now we can get on with the business of preparing for the season! Good luck to the 'Stangs in their inaugural varsity season. 45 players is a very encouraging sign. Are any of the football players former soccer players? The only downside that I ever saw to a Brossart football program was the reduction in the number of soccer players. Brossart has experienced a great deal of success in recent years in the soccer realm. Will football hurt or dilute the soccer program @ BBHS?

Brossart home games
One additional injury is too many due to overuse! Aren't there any Kevin Costner's at Brossart?

Brossart home games
....but the Red Devils :fire: are a trememndous feeder source for the Fighting Camels. You only have to look at the incoming Freshman class from last year's Red Devil Super Bowl Championship Team. 24 of 29 members from that squad will wear "Purple" in the Fall. The CC administration made the right call on this one!

Brossart home games
While running at the track this AM, I inspected the bleachers and exposed rebar. You are right, there are a few minor exposed areas on the lower steps of the upper stands where some crumbling has occurred and a little rebar is showing. There is a planned work day @ Bob Miller Stadium on 7/21 (8:00 AM) and this issue will be addressed. I did not see any decaying, just a few spots that will require patching. Thanks for the heads up....

Top Freshmen QBs
Campbell Co. has several solid prospects at the QB position for the future including Michael Kramer and David Jenkins. Both are products of the CC Red Devil system and both are excellent athletes. Michael recently suffered a set-back from an ATV accident. He's a tough kid though and will rebound quickly. Best wishes Michael.....

Brossart home games
The little bit of profit made vs. the damage done by even one extra varsity game is not a wise investment by the CC administration. I understand that renting the field is somewhere in the quoted range of $1,500.00. Comparing that to an average CC profit of $25,000 (5,000 tickets x $5.00) on a Friday night, the $1,500.00 payment is not worth the hassle or wear & tear on the surface. Once again, though, this decision by the Superintendent's office cannot be based on economics. It must be made based on player safety. The field cannot sustain more usage. It's already @ 200% capacity with a rigourous Jr. League, Red Devil  , CC Band, and CC Freshman, JV, & Varsity game schedule for 2007. What does Beechwood, Dixie, etc charge for field usage on their synthetic surfaces?

Brossart home games
This is just a rumor and no decision has been made to allow BB to play at Bob Miller Stadium. BB has submitted a use of facilities request to the Superintendent's office. Bottom Line: This field is entirely over-used already. Any additional wear & tear simply puts kids at risk as this playing surface quickly becomes a "parking lot" when the grass erodes. We are just now into Year #2 of the bermuda and it appears to be coming in nicely. As to the "crumb rubber" effectiveness, I beleive that it has provided some residual value but probably did not perform as advertised. The crumb rubber remains on the field and mixed with bermuda seems to co-exist OK providing a minor level of cushion for players.

East 44 West 14 (2007 NKY East/West All Star Game)
I'm quite surprised that Ross Uminger is going to KY as a "preferred walk-on". This kid can flat out kick. Perhaps one of the best kickers to come out of No. Ky in quite some time. I know that he gave the Camels fits keeping them backed up in their first meeting this year. Perhaps it's Ross' dream to play at Kentucky? Otherwise, I beleive he could play in many D1 programs!
