I heard that the Stangs will be using Bob Miller Stadium for thier home games. Can this field withstand two Varsity Teams using it? If one would look at the use of fields by two Varsity Programs in the past, one would see that the field can not withstand the use.

 

I could only hope for the Camels, that this is a rumor.

I fully agree. IMO, before a school starts football they should have their own field to play on and not someone else's.

If that's the case, then St. X and Trinity never would have started a program along with NewCath and Holy Cross. If the tenant pays the required rent, then that is between the tenant and the landlord. I agree that it kills a field, but if the CC school district permits it, you have to trust that they researched the cost and ability to maintain a field.

If and I emphasize "IF" this rumor is true, it is indeed the business of the CC school board to make this decision, and not the fans who don't want BBHS playing on the CC middle school field!! "IF" they do decide to let the fellow taxpayers of Campbell County rent this County School System owned facility; I'd assume they've done their homework and feel it makes economic sense!!

Is Brossart considered an independent or are they in a district this season? Is Ollier still the coach and if so was he able to convince soccer and basketball players to participate? Never could get the athletes at Bracken to play football, but don't know if that was entirely his fault.

They've joined distrcit play and are in a district with Beechwood, Bellevue, Ludlow and Dayton. Not sure about the participation issue, but he is working very hard at that matter and was very visable during basketball and baseball this past year. I've got a feeling they will be very young again, but their is some athleticism in the younger and incoming grades!!

Another "popular rumor" out CC way, and one that should be considered seriously, especially with Brossart's football program available as a tenant; along with the CC junior programs, the band program, soccer, etc. who could use the field. Might be a good investment!!

I hope that IF this rumor is true then the forementioned programs i.e. athletic boosters at both schools, band boosters and the CC junior programs and the Red Devils program need to get together, become proactive and develop a game plan to fund such an investment. BUT I seriously worry that until this is done the field will not withstand the abuse of two varsity programs, a JV program, a middle school program, youth programs and a band contest. Just scheduling this field regardless of turf with all of these programs and then adding Brossart's home games will be an issue. The varsity football program at CCHS should not be compromised by adding another local varsity program to this field's schedule.

Admittedly I haven't seen CC's field in a few years, and I'm basing my following thought on the assumption that the condition is the same as it was in the past, but it was always a cow pasture in the past and adding 5 more games to it a year couldn't make it much worse. If the rent will help enable them to put in artificial turf, good move by CC.

It's worked in Mayfield for the past 20 years. War Memorial Stadium has hosted both Mayfield and Graves County games on all levels (varsity, JV, freshman and middle school) and the field has always held up well.

 

The Stadium of Champions is shared by Hopkinsville and Christian County with no problems.

Has CC ever thought about building a new stadium at the high school? Then the middle school field could be used by Brossart and the youth programs.

Where does Brossart stand on building their own stadium. They should of have look into all of this before they started a program. I guess the thought that someone would feel sorry for them and let then have Bob Miller Stadium. It seems that their own feeder school, St Mary's, will not let them practice on their soccer fields.

 

Looking into the tax issue, Brossart does not pay taxes. Their parents might, but they make the choice to send them to a private school. I am sure what they are going to pay, if it happens will not even be a fraction of the cost for turf.
