Isn't the new principal an old principal from the area? Why don't the parents use the concession stand during the JV games and any other event? I would not think something like this would be a selling point to move on, good things are happening, let's keep them going.

 

The concession stand isn't open by the band parents for the JV games now. The parents bring stuff and sell it outside the concession stand if at all. As for that being a reason for Joe's leaving nothing can be further from the truth. He left for a number of reasons but that wasn't one of them. I have a relative in the program and it is only open to Campbell County School students. It is starting at 3rd grade through 6th grade, I think. It is limited to school students because the school system is supporting the costs and liability insurance of the program. Very generous of the school to do that. Because it is school coordinated it is limited to those at the schools.

1. Play as many "home" games as possible the next two years at Thomas More. If that isn't all of them, then work at the finances with each school. For example, Brossart plays at Dayton the next two years and they work out the money.

 

2. After the next realignment Brossart will most likely be 2A and in with Lloyd, NCC, Holy Cross, and Newport. Play games at Thomas More including some possible Friday night double-headers with NCC or Holy Cross (if Holmes and Newport fields are occupied) or Saturday double-headers with Thomas More. And Thomas More has already stated that the more people they can get on their campus the better chance they will be receptive to attending school there.

 

3. Find a place to practice on. It doesn't have to be state-of-the-art. it doesn't even how to be a real field. Other teams do it.

I'm sure Thomas More is "on the radar" for Brossart and several other area schools, as a playing field option. Other than geography for the fans, TMC's new field would appear to be a great venue for HS football!! Might be a situation where you see a couple different "Home" options for the first few years?? I know TMC is agressively marketing themselves locally, in Cincy as well; especially to the area Catholic high schools. I think the practice field may already be taken care of.

I believe last year BBHS had about 180-185 boys (45 senior boys), so that would be pretty significant growth @ about 33%, but again I love the optimism!! I realize growth is predicted for southern Campbell County, but again those will be 2 year average numbers, and next year is already set. Agree on the TMC comments, especially with the diocesan pledge helping with tuition!!

Not to bring up a new topic, but the last time I worked a game at Bob Miller Stadium, I noticed that the concrete bleachers were decaying to a point where the edges of the steps were crumbling and rebar was visible. I happen to know this occured at Elder's Pit a few years ago, causing the Cincinnati building inspectors to close parts of the stands until the repairs were done. Elder fixed the problem by pouring a new layer of concrete over the top of the steps, and blowing concrete up into the underside of the grandstand. Has anyone at CCHS taken this into consideration along with possible field surface replacements?

While running at the track this AM, I inspected the bleachers and exposed rebar. You are right, there are a few minor exposed areas on the lower steps of the upper stands where some crumbling has occurred and a little rebar is showing. There is a planned work day @ Bob Miller Stadium on 7/21 (8:00 AM) and this issue will be addressed. I did not see any decaying, just a few spots that will require patching. Thanks for the heads up....

Here's the varsity schedule, and I'm not sure of anything else. Obviously the home site is still up in the air, but I hear "no it all" and "old teacher" are offering their back yards if nothing works out!!

Do you know who they will be SCRIMMAGING in the 2 weeks prior to the 1st game?

Hearing that many of the CC faithful on here may have a great weekend, and can take a HUGE sigh of relief; as they may have been successful in their efforts to keep the evil Mustangs off the Bob Miller Stadium turf?? Hopefully this will save the field the forecasted abuse that 4-5 additional games may have inflicted; and will spare the many predicted catastrophic injuries that would have happened as a result!!!! :D

 

Good luck to both teams this season, and if your looking to see a Brossart game, I'd think about possibly visiting Ft. Thomas, Newport or Crestview Hills!!
