Honestly the band competition has always been the main source of the field's troubles. Also, band does the concessions at basketball and football games and makes a KILLING. I have always had a problem with that. Especially when some funding was cut and teams had to have fund raisers. The sports boosters should do it all. That could help fund the turf even.

I have a relative in the program and it is only open to Campbell County School students. It is starting at 3rd grade through 6th grade, I think. It is limited to school students because the school system is supporting the costs and liability insurance of the program. Very generous of the school to do that. Because it is school coordinated it is limited to those at the schools.

That combined with the Red Devils head coach being on staff at CC is a recipe for success.

If this event had any impact on Joe Roberts leaving Campbell County, then I am glad he left. In fact, I would encourage anyone that knew him to contact him and find out. Does anyone know how to reach him still? With everything that was going on in this district at the time, I think he would have had more concerns. If anyone remebers and it was a long, long time ago now, he was pubicly critized for recommending the installation of the crumb rubber to Bob Miller. When it was recommended that the school install Bermuda grass, again more critizem. End result as proven from other posts, the field is looking great, there is more activity on it then there has been in a long time. He worked with the former varsity football coach and the current coach to start a youth football program that delt with only elementary students that attended Campbell County Schools, that is still under fire today, but what do we have, over 100 students out there learning the game of football and having fun. What we all need to remember is that groups can request to use the facility. If Brossart did that, then they should at least know if they are permitted to use the site before submitting a complete schedule and allow this to even be talked about that they may play games at Bob Miller. The point is true, would it not be a great testimony if every organization that has any connection to that stadium sit down and put a plan together to restructure and remodel Bob Miller Stadium. Why move something that is perfect for the community? Yes, it would be nice to have a field at Campbell County High School, but right in the heart of Alexandria, a perfect gathering place. The real question is this, would everyone be willing to drop the ego level some and realize that it takes more than one person to put a project like this together, but it can be done.

Let's not forget this is the same man that made the decision to shut down the youth basketball program that had been established by the high school head basketball coach and going strong for many years. This program involved more than 100 students of Campbell County Schools . These students were having fun and learning the fundamentals of basketball until the powers to be decided that this was not the direction CCS wanted to go, supporting youth programs. Now all of a sudden he is a hero for starting a youth football program????? I do not want to bring up negatives but unfortunately the program has suffered and the numbers of elementary students playing basketball has dropped dramatically.

But his budgets balanced and everyone knows how money was spent. Mr. Roberts did not shut down any program he made it clear the money issues were so bad it was not going to involve the school. As unpopular to a few special interests that was it was the right decision.

Shutting down youth basketball because you can't keep track of the money? Are you serious? How about, keep it running, and keep track of the money.

:thumb: That is toooooo logical! Or how about having policies and guidelines in place for people to follow?? I knew that this would be the response, it always is. The scapegoat for a poor decision made because of someones personal agenda. Oh well this thread is about Brossart asking for permission to use Bob Miller Stadium, we need to get back to the point. Have we heard what the official response was from the administration at CCS?

You make a point but with ballrm, who knows better but pretends otherwise, this was not a program through the schools. It was an outside program run through a league (aau, maybe?), using the schools and when questions came up, there was no money to be found and it was claimed private funds because it was an outside group. Mr. Roberts said simply, fine but if there is no accountability there is no affiliation and use of the schools. The only people who were upset over Mr. Roberts decision were the ones who had a direct benefit with this program. Actually I think Mr. Roberts gave this group a chance to get their act together but no one would provide the questions of show me the money. If pressed hard enough ballerm and others that come to Mr. Sullivan's defense may even agree some restitution happened. Back to the mustangs but ballerm took a cheap shot and it should not be allowed. I was at the school during this time and I know these details are accurate.

You know the details are accurate? Saturday's was school intramural ball. Sunday's was AAU. The Saturday league was still being ran well after Sullivan. Refs made 15 dollars a game and that was not being brought in at any gate. It could have been "fixed" to meet school regulations. OT you never miss an opportunity to bring this up so I don't think he meant it asa cheap shot.

I think CC needs to be a good neighbor and let Brossart use the field. Turf is needed though because it's not going to hold up with all the teams/leagues using it. Red Devils isn't a school program but they use it.

I stand by the facts I know. I did not bring this up. You will be corrected if you reread the post sequence. Regarding the field it seems the decision has been made and it was done with the interests of Campbell County students first, as it should always be.

....but the Red Devils :fire: are a trememndous feeder source for the Fighting Camels. You only have to look at the incoming Freshman class from last year's Red Devil Super Bowl Championship Team. 24 of 29 members from that squad will wear "Purple" in the Fall.

The CC administration made the right call on this one!

Hearing that many of the CC faithful on here may have a great weekend, and can take a HUGE sigh of relief; as they may have been successful in their efforts to keep the evil Mustangs off the Bob Miller Stadium turf?? Hopefully this will save the field the forecasted abuse that 4-5 additional games may have inflicted; and will spare the many predicted catastrophic injuries that would have happened as a result!!!! :D :D

Good luck to both teams this season, and if your looking to see a Brossart game, I'd think about possibly visiting Ft. Thomas, Newport or Crestview Hills!!

One additional injury is too many due to overuse! Aren't there any Kevin Costner's at Brossart?

He brought up that they stopped the basketball league and you took it from there to where you always take it...

I agree, but it's also been a tremendous feeder for NCC, Cov Cath, and Highlands in the past.

Add that to the excellent JR. High team that they had last year and the Camels have a very, very solid foundation for the next few years.
