  1. To me, JBS is overrated. Sorry. I'm going to call the Mason co. game a big fluke. Sorry. Don't get me wrong, JBS has a great team, but I still can't see them taking the 14th. Stepp, Cox and Collins are all tough, but like i've said before...if you control Stepp at all, descently, or so much to say, slightly. Hold him to 15 points and Jbs can be beat. Hazard on the other hand has a tough all around team, lead by Justin Hicks at the point. A team from the mtns. such as Hazard will always get good pull, from not only fans, but yes, referees. I see solid, all-around good ball clubs in Powell, Lee, and Perry. Leading me to my to my final point. If you look back through the years, 9 times out of 10 the "favorite" has'nt ended up the victor.
  2. He played pretty well. Powell seemed to handle the big man for Cumberland (#42) pretty well. Romans played well for Powell. Tough down low, tough to guard one-on-one. When Romans is on and Powells bench is productive, Powell is a very hard team to beat. I have to say, Powell might have what they need to win the 14th this year.
  3. Good win for the Pirates...like to see Powell get on track and win LCC's tourney. Powell vs. Cordia tomorrow night, 6 p.m.
  4. If Mason and JBS meet in the final of the 5/3rd , given that JBS makes it that far... Mason would beat JBS by around 25. Still have to believe the boys in the mtns. got some home cookin'.
  5. Good showing for the 14th Region and Powell co., playing right with one of Louisvilles' top teams at this point in the season. I believe they have beat PRP, come within four of Butler and Fairdale, and beat 2 good teams, Seneca and Southern.
  6. I'm thinking JBS is a little over-rated. Great team, but from what i've read on BGP.. JBS should blow KCC out of the water. Doesnt seem that this happened. Tough loss for KCC, but this may bring some people's senses back down to reality.
  7. Powell seems to be playing extremely well right now. Havent had the chance to make it to any 13th region games, but i've heard Cumberland has shaped up into a pretty decent team. I'll take Powell in this one, by 10.
  8. You're absolutely right. They could lose the 14th. I agree. JBS is a slow down half court team, lets Stepp dribble around half court till he sees a hole in the offense and either kicks it out to Cox for the three or hands it off to Collins for an easy 2. I can see two or three fast paced teams in the region, in Hazard, Powell or PCC beating JBS. I've yet to see JBS prove themselves against a press and yet to see how they can run the ball. Sorry, I do not see JBS winning the 14th Region this year. It's just MY opinion and one person's opinion doesnt go far, but to say that JBS should be ranked state wise is a joke. The Mason co. game in my eyes was purely a fluke and wouldnt be close in another meeting. PCC has a very very solid team this year and a loss by 32 on their home floor tells me just how good Mason truly is. This is just my opinion, don't take it personally on any level..to You JBS fans. JBS does have a great team.
  9. Shelby Valley and JBS, final game. Shelby Valley winner..
  10. Pirates get the win in Irvine tonight. This puts the Pirates at 2-0 in the district. Congrats to Powell with the win.:dancingpa
  11. 1. JBS - Solid Team, the only in Region team they have beat was LCC, by 7 2. Hazard - Beat a good PCC team by 9. 3. PCC -Always Solid, but seem to be somewhat down.Dangerous on any night 4. Powell - Have been playing very good. Beat Lee by 8. Tough with Romans. 5. LCC - Beat a very good Lee co. Bobcat team by 11. 6. Lee - Should be higher, but have lost some key in region games. Watch out 7. Jackson City - Lost alot last year, but seem to be playing extremely well. 7. Estill - Showing leadership. Estill is scrappy, dangerous when the 3 is falling. 8. Leslie - Have a good 2-man guard combination, not much inside. 9. Cordia - Led by Zach Hurt. Not a huge inside presence or much outside. 10. KCC - Just as scrappy as any team in the region on any given night.
  12. Watching Powell play OBI lastnight showed me two things. They play pretty good man-to-man defense, and their press offense and defense against a lightning fast OBI team was terrific. Once again, I'll say it, if Powell keeps passing the ball as well as they have been, subbing at right times , and hitting Romans in the middle, Estill will have a tough time beating Powell. Powell 10+
  13. And hard to guard when he's in the game. If Romans can stay healthy for Powell and they continue to pass the ball efficiently and shoot layups, they'll be a definate hard team to beat.
  14. Powell seems to be getting their act together. If coach Lively continues to use his bench and keep fresh bodies on the court Powell will be a tough team to beat. Roman's presence on the inside will hurt Estill with the loss of big man, Clinton Dixon. If someone from Estill can stepup and attempt to shutdown Romans they'll have a chance of winning. If Romans is not stopped inside, and Powells outside shooting and break offense is clicking, i'll have to take Powell by 15+. 71-56
  15. Looks as though the 56th is a toss-up between Powell/Estill/and Lee. Powell seems to have the upperhand as of now with their win over Lee, and Lee beating Estill.
  16. Must say both teams looked extremely weak inside. Guard play was great and shooting from Estill was tough. If Estill is off from outside, they won't be hard to beat.
  17. Didnt see this game being played as close as it was. Sounds like JBS being from the 14th didnt hurt them any. Wouldnt everyone like to see a 14th region team beat one of the most high thought and praised teams in the state?
  18. 2 straight for the Pirates, coming off a big win against Lee. The Pirates look to be moving in a more positive direction, from their 0-3 start. This game was a blowout from the beginning, can't say much for OBI, Powell seemed to go to their bench very quickly in the first half. Seems that Powell's bench is deeper than expected.
  19. Sounds like Owsley played a great game. Good win for Estill though. This makes them 1-1 in the district right?
  20. Powell 71 Lee 63, looks like everyone was a little off. Maybe Powell is finally starting to click. Not the biggest fan by all means, but looks like the boys from stanton put something together.
  21. Powell takes this one, seemed to come out shakey, but led the game from the second quarter on. Good win for Powell, hard fought battle by Lee.
  22. I want to say Preston Knowles of GRC...kid is For real! other pick would be Darius Miller.
  23. I would say Romans will be back. He dressed and sat against OBI and is probably back practicing. Would'nt count Romans out of the roster for Tuesday. I'll take Powell in a close one. It seems that Powells lineup has changed each game, if Lively's lineup is clicking against Lee and bench play is productive i'll take Powell by about 10.
  24. Romans did dress for OBI, but did not play. We'll see what happens with a couple days of prac. Lee co. Shouldnt count him out for the game.
