  1. Top 10 Players 1. Justin Hicks - Hazard 2. Clark Stepp - JBS 3. Kenny Brandenburg - Lee 4. Tyler Bailey - PCC 5. Daniel Neeley - Owsley (moved to Owen Co.) 6. Tate Cox - JBS 7. Zach Hurt - Cordia 8. Zach Gay - Buckhorn 9. Michael Campbell - Hazard 10. Ryan Romans - Powell Top 10 Teams 1. Hazard 2. JBS 3. PCC 4. Lee 5. Powell 6. Leslie 7. Cordia 8. Buckhorn 9. LCC 10. Breathitt
  2. Lee Co. has a very talented senior based team, but so does Powell. Lee is ranked preseason #4 with Powell right behind them at #5 (Cat's Pause). Both teams have a good shot at the regional title, yet Lee's best oppurtunity was last season with the likes of Tyler Rich. If Fetters and Johnson can play big Lee will be fine. Romans, being a force downlow will be an obstacle for Fetters. The key to Powell's success will be taking advantage of what "seems" like a mismatch in the paint, and the outside shooting of Dennis and Merriman. If Lee can play good hard-nosed defense, it will make for a good game. Powell's defense has always been very aggressive in the past and has always caused trouble, if they can get both ends of the floor working simultaneously they will be a hard team to beat, IMO
  3. Who will start in the 56th ...Estill, Lee, Powell, Owsley
  4. 2 point guards, 2 shooting guards, and a center? Powell should stick to the original format 1,2,3,4, and 5. 1) Johnson 2) Dennis 3) Merriman 4) Banks 5) Romans also..Sebey, Skidmore, Adams, Pelphrey, and Martin will be in the mix. Knowing coach Lively's mentality..if everyone does what's told, Powell will be a TEAM to watch out for at the end of the season. Powell has talent, but needs to have the right 5 in at the right time...all of these can play. Lee.. 1) Brandenburg 2) Liesagang 3) Liesagang 4) Johnson 5) Fetters -Coach Wright will have them ready Estill.. 1) Christopher 2) Hoover 3) Berryman 4) ??? 5) Noland
  5. 1.Scott County(26-5) 2.Warren Central(26-7) 3.Male(19-7) 4.Elizabethtown(28-4) 5.Jeffersontown(32-3) 6.Ballard(22-10) 7.Holmes(19-9) 8.South Laurel(28-6) 9.Covington Catholic(24-7) 10.Doss(23-7) 11.Mason County(25-9) 12.PRP(29-6) 13.Bryan Station(20-10) 14.Christian Co.(20-10) 15.Shelby County(31-4) 16.AC -Scotsville(22-7) 17.Graves Co.(29-6) 18.Clark Co.(22-9) 19.Lexington Catholic(23-7) 20.Meade Co.(20-9) 21.Ashland(14-16) 22.Apollo(25-11) 23.Russell(18-14) 24.DeSales(21-10) 25.Paintsville(21-10) (Region) 1st:Marshall Co. 2nd:Trigg Co. 3rd:Meade Co. 4th:Warren Central 5th:E-Town 6th: Doss 7th:Male 8th:Shelby Co. 9th:Holmes 10th:Mason Co. 11th:Scott Co. 12th:Boyle Co. 13th:South Laurel 14th:Powell Co. 15th:Paintsville 16th:Russell
  6. Brandenburg is also a great point guard, very good passer, gets to the basket very well, and has great court vision. Like Johnson he will depend on his teammates to get the win, with Fetters, and the Liesagang's. With Powell's new coach anyone might play, in the past years all of Powell's talent hasnt been put together. I think Lively may handle that... Estill's point guard, Christopher has good vision and plays very smart, must rely on Berryman to score.
  7. Union ...located in Barbourville , Estill is somewhat down, but Berryman is a top player in the 14th
  8. Lee - Fetters, Brandenburg, Johnson, Justin and Dustin Liesagang Estill - Berryman, Christopher Powell - Romans, Banks, Merriman, Dennis, Johnson Owsley - Congleton, Neely (moved to Owen co.) Could be some very interesting games to watch this season!:thumb: :ylsuper:
  9. Right, but did'nt Estill lose 7 seniors, and they're top scorer, Clinton Dixon?
  10. I've noticed that almost everyone have Lee and Powell in their preseason top 5. How do you think these matchups will go. Home and away?.. who are key players for Powell and Lee? Who will make the difference in the games? and which coach, in your opinion is the best coach?
  11. The post was asking, what are Powell's chances for this year...not for years down the road. Building a team is one thing, having a good season one year is another. I've seen teams go 8, 9, 10 deep with seniors and it worked out fine for those teams. 12 will be interesting to watch this season, im not sure of the outcome, it could go one way or the other. Another senior based team in the district is Lee co. with the likes of 7 (Fetters, Johnson, Brandenburg, Taulbee, Justin and Dustin Liesagang, and another. I believe if Lee co. had 12 seniors with equal talent that they all would play. IMO
  12. Just looking for some thoughts and opinions..still can't look past Powell or Lee in the 56th..with the likes of Hazard, PCC, and JBS
  13. From the past year, watching coach Lively take an unheard of Jackson City team to the region finals...i have to give Powell good chances, if Lively can do what he did at JC with this upperclass team of Powell it may look good. I agree that the Lee/Powell games will be fun and very exciting to watch. Both teams have experience and this may be a look forward at the regional final... Talent wise the region isnt loaded but the top 5 teams mentioned above all have great ability. I'll lean toward Lee or Powell from the 56th taking the trip to Rupp this year...
  14. Who Are The Best Players Of Each team In the 14th???
  15. haha. Chris loften wasn't a mountain kid...he was from mason co. i dont recall any Mtns. there...great shooter though.
  16. I have to agree...Lee co. will have a time with Powell co. this season. I see Powell taking the 56th, lee will also have a time guarding Romans of Powell, Fetters and Johnson cant compare to the strength of Tyler Rich...
  17. Augger is probably right..it's hard to tell before the season starts, but my top 5 looks like this : 1)PCC 2)Powell 3)JBS 4)Lee 5)Hazard
  18. I saw buckhorn play at PCC's team camp. They won the tournament...consisting of Leslie, Powell, PCC, Owsley, South Laurel, and Cordia. They were a solid team, but to me not a contender in the 14th. They will certainly shock a few teams this year and come up with a few upsets. From what i saw almost every team was down players due to other sports which would have made the competition much more competitive...
  19. oh, my bad...oh i don't care its not offending...so what do leslie, hazard, and pCC have this year, and who is the best of the three?
  20. Kinda believe what? that lee and powell dont have a chance?
  21. Being from the 14th i would have to go with Lee or Powell, the 56th always seems to be the toughest district but doesnt get enough credit, i wouldnt be surprised to see one of these two end up on top this year...
  22. IMO... Lee, Powell, JBS, PCC, or Hazard, no particular order, but good top 5.
  23. Kinser, Dennis and Merriman, no particular order, all are lights out...IMO
