  1. I have to take the Pirates in this one. Estill is a hard place to play and the Pirates seemed to handle themselves pretty well there in their last meeting. You have to watch Estill though, they're very dangerous when Berryman and Christopher are hitting. I'll take Powell by 10, given that the game is in Stanton. ( 68-58 )
  2. Powell, Estill, Leslie, Knott, PCC
  3. It's tough to beat the Indians at home. Ill take Montgomery in an upset. 75-68
  4. JBS, Hazard, Breathitt, Powell, Knott, PCC or Lee IMO.
  5. Who will win the 14th. Everyone seems to play harder during tourney time...
  6. It was made obvious that the Pirates are still a bit sluggish after their break. Owsley came out early in the first with a 8 point lead. After a couple subs and changes Powell clawed back from the deficit and poured it on. Powell needs to start coming out more fired up than hey have in the past three games. It seemed that their lineup changed drastically aswell, with Romans only playing around 6 minutes. Seems to me that Romans is still a little shookup from the Lee co. game, but he will move on from that and help his team like he was. Lively needs to see to the bench for help when he needs it. Good win for the Pirates. Congrats. :thumb:
  7. What? Powell's gym is one of the nicest in the region. Have you even been there? PCC, Breathitt, and Powell are probably the nicest and largest gyms in the region.
  8. LCC doesnt have much parking space. That's one of its only downfalls of hosting region. Parking spots could be made down and around the football field though. It will be an alright place to hold the tourney, but not the best. IMO just looking at LCC's gym, it seems much smaller than Powell. I would say the capacity is somewhere from 2500-3000, when is the tourney back at Powell?
  9. Wow!, did'nt see this one coming. Thought Bell was a good team, but didnt know they were a 29 point better team than PCC. Especially on their home floor. I'll call this an upset whether it is or not. I believe PCC might have lost by less points to Mason co.
  10. 85-58. Estill has to many weapons in Berryman and Christopher. I don't see Owsley coming close to the Neers. Good luck to both teams.
  11. I couldnt of said it better my self colonelfan, when you've got 2 years of experience and playing time under your belt you should be leaps and bounds above the rest of those 14 year old freshmen at the age of 16. Don't get me wrong, Tate is a wonderful kid and basketball player, probably a great shortstop. But maybe someone should change the thread name to "best 16 year old Freshmen in the state".
  12. Final. Any thoughts?
  13. Louisville Ballard with Alan Houston in the 80's. Or Clay co. with Richie Farmer the same year.
  14. December. Breathitt is too young and inexperienced to peak to the level they need to be in March. I think they'll fold during tourney time, but will be tough to beat next year. We'll see just how good they are in a couple weeks when they play JBS. That will be my determining factor on this situation.
  15. So he's not a true freshmen! I believe i was 14 starting freshmen year. 16 at the end of sophomore year. Regardless of birth date, he's old for his class. Not knocking his play at all, but he's not a TRUE freshmen.
  16. Is Tate Cox a TRUE freshmen? If not than maybe we should ask the question, Is Tate Cox one of the best Soph. or Jrs. in the state?
  17. If Garrison Collins is 6'8'', why doesnt he ever get the ball? There is noone in the region that could guard him, depending on if he is coordinated or not. IMO if JBS plays a quick team, who likes to run the ball and not set it up everytime, JBS can be beat. Tate Cox and Stepp are both great shooters and all around players, but if they get stuck with a good defensive team, i don't think they would still "go off". IMO JBS will not win the region, I think the region will be won by Hazard, Breathitt, or Powell. I'll take Hazard in this one by 10+. Hicks is too much for Stepp, IMO.
  18. How would Breathitt match-up to teams like Lee, Powell, or JBS?
  19. Lee is coming off a 39 point win over an in district team, Owsley. The game is also in Beatyville which always favors the Bobcats. IMO Powell is playing very good basketball right now, although they havent had a game since Dec. 30, (Championship game of the Cougar Classic at LCC 103-58, Powell over Sheldon Clark.) Powell seems to have things going and are 2-0 in the district. I'll take Powell by 10. Powell won the last meeting in Stanton by 8, this would be a big win for the Pirates. Good luck both teams!
  20. Here is how I think it should look... 1. June Buchanan(10-3, only 3 losses, from 3 teams that have been in the top 15 in the state) 2. Breathitt(14-1, good record, 57-56 win over Hazard) 3. Hazard(10-3), wins over Shelby Valley, and Madison Central) 4. Powell(9-6, wins over Belfry, Cumberland, and Lee Co.) 5. Perry(8-4,wins over Knott and Leslie) 6. Lee(8-6,win over Estill, should be here from a 54-53 loss to 3-10 Wolfe) 7. Buckhorn(8-6, won the MHS tourney, and won 3 games in Florida) 8. Knott(3-7, 57-56 win over LCC, lost 7 in a row, but to some good teams) 9. Letcher Central(6-9, wins over Lee, and Leslie) 10. Estill(9-8, 9 point win over Leslie County) Cantrell's rankings, IMO are never accurate.
  21. Anyone know the score of this game?
  22. Shelby Valley or Bell co.
  23. 1. South Laurel 2. Shelby Valley 3. Bell Co. 4. Breathitt Co. 5. Paintsville 6. Hazard 7. June Buchanan 8. Clay Co. 9. Belfry 10. Powell Co.
  24. Very true. I just came by the wymt - boys - mountain top 10 and 4 of the 10 teams were from the 14th region. 1. South Laurel 2. Shelby Valley 3. Bell Co. 4. Breathitt Co. 5. Paintsville 6. Hazard 7. June Buchanan 8. Clay Co. 9. Belfry 10. Powell Co.
  25. I agree. Powell and JBS seemed to have the most overall talent, regardless of their records right now. I see one of the two taking the 14th this season.
