  1. You know what cch5432,before I even read your post I was wondering how I forgot CovCath and was about to edit my post but you beat me to it. It will be awfully tough to get past Holmes but then again it will be awfully tough to get past CovCath as well now that I think of it. They have a really good team and I love the way the Grimes kid plays. He is imo one of the states most underrated players.
  2. As far as Shelby Valley goes, a Month or so ago I would have had them as a favorite and possibly said that they would be you next state champion but they played their best basketball at the beginning of the season and I don't feel like they are playing the way they were when the beat Male, DeSales,...etc and I personally don't see them getting past Paintsville in the 15th.
  3. UHA,PRP,Whoever comes out of the 7th and 11th,Holmes,Mason,Hazard,Paintsville, and Elliott all have the talent win it. Its basically whoever puts the best series of games together. I'm going to predict Bryan Station as state Champs this season if they can get out of the 11th which will be tougher than the actuall sweet 16. If they don't make it out I'll go with the Arrez Henderson led Holmes Bulldogs.
  4. I believe the indvidual talent in the 13th is superior to the 12th with the exception of Young and Keeton of Lincoln and Watts of McCreary. Personally I believe that the top 8 players in the 13th are as good as anyone in the 12th. As far as the teams go I believe that the 13th is stronger as well although I would favor Lincoln and McCreary over any team in the 13th but those are the only 2. But this is just a personal opinion.
  5. When Hopson decides to play UHA is hard to beat. The kid will get quality #'s just on his god given talent but if he came to play every game he'd average about 36ppg and 19rpg, but when he dosent and its all Edmonson their not nearly as dangerous. He has the POTENTIAL to make alot of money playing this game someday but its all up to him and how hard hes willing to work. Congrats UHA.
  6. My top 5: Miller Hopson _________Gap Mack _________Gap Henderson Slone
  7. Bardstown was my pick to win the 5th, Maybe I wasn't dreaming after all.:ylsuper:

  9. Henderson from Holmes can throw down some sick dunks w/out a doubt.
  10. The Lexington Herald Leader released a statment this morning in its weekly spots section reporting that UK was at least interested in Slone and had called about him. The following quote is from the HL. "Paintsville Coach Bill Mike Runyon got a call from UK assistant Jeremy Cox, who told him the Cats might want to take a look at Tigers star Landon Slone. Paintsville plays Johnson Central on Friday night. Slone, a 6-3 senior guard, is averaging 26 points." http://www.kentucky.com/289/story/318913.html the following DI schools have been recruiting Slone or have contacted about him according to some information I read.... LA-Monroe,Marshall,Charlotte,Arkansas,Louisville, and now UK....NAIA power Georgetown(KY)has offered him a Full ride. I don't Know but he sounds like a Mr. Basketball Canidate to me, but he obviously will not be considered because he's from Eastern KY reguardless of his stats and and teams performance. I'd put him in the top 5 in the state with Miller,Mack,Hopson, and Henderson....jmo.
  11. I'd put him in my top 10 I just listed the 6 best players that wasn't mentioned imo and a player that I left out is Dayvon Slone - Waggener, I cant believe I forgot about him.
  12. 10.Jordan Hickman-Bardstown 11.Noah Keeton-Lincoln Co. 12.Steven McFarland-Boone County 13.Nick Fudge-Adair Co 14.Larod King-North Hardin 15.Ethan Falkner-Elliott Co.
  13. "Give me a team of five guards — Shelvin Mack of Bryan Station, Landon Slone of Paintsville, Michael Sparks of Tates Creek, Lee Hubbard of Barren County (shown at left) and Arrez Henderson of Holmes — and I’d like my chances of winning the state title. The team might be under-sized, but it couldn’t be matched in passion, smarts and toughness." -Mike Fields Lexington Herald Leader Just figured I'd post this and see what kind of response it gets.
  14. I still believe Bryan Station is the top team in the state and they are still the team to beat IMO. I mean they did the same thing to Scott County on their home floor. I just believe they had one of those games where nothing went right and believe this loss will only make them that much more deadly in March. As far as ratings go I think Holmes deserves the #1 spot because they just keep winning and obviously after a loss like this Bryan Station will not stay at #1 but they are still the team to beat...jmo. All I mean by this is that if I was a Coach/Player and I had one choice of who not to play come tournament time it would be Bryan Station.
  15. 1)Bryan Station 2)Holmes 3)Mason Co. 4)Lexington Catholic 5)Jeffersontown 6)Scott Co. 7)UHA 8)Paintsville 9)Manual 10)Mulenberg North 11)Eastern 12)Male 13)PRP 14)Ballard 15)Boone County 16)Elliott Co. 17)Hazard 18)Dunbar 19)DeSales 20)Bardstown
  16. My favorites from each region: Class A schools are in Bold 1st -- Paducah Tilghman 2nd -- UHA 3rd -- Apollo 4th -- Barren Co 5th -- Bardstown 6th --PRP 7th --Jeffersontowm 8th --Oldham 9th -- Holmes 10th -- Mason Co 11th -- Bryan Station 12th -- Lincoln 13th -- South Laurel 14th -- Hazard 15th -- Paintsville 16th -- Elliott
  17. Collegiate has the athletes to keep it close, they have a quick scrappy team who should be able to hold their own in the game it's really just according to which Rose Hill team shows up. For Collegiate their main focus should be on Euton and to keep the ball out of his hand. I think they have a fairly good machup for Jackson and the other guards. I'll take Rose Hill 58-64
  18. Allen Central Thomas Jenkins-97'could dunk anyway possible, and could jump out of the gym Mikey Slone 03'-Very athletic dunker who could jump out of the gym. Matt Baker 95'-Powerful two hand dunker, transferred from shelby Valley Jermey Hayes 01'-Had a nice little 1 hand dunk in at least two games I saw, while he drove the baseline. I can only remember from about 1988-89 and up.
  19. Slone has a exceptional all-around game and probabily moves better w/out the basketball than anyone in the state. He's not just an offensive weapon eighter he's usually assigned to guard the opposing teams best player on most occasions. Theres not alot of flaws in his game. He along with Hopson-UHA, are probabily the top two players in this tournament. Paintsville also has Shane Grimm who is probabily the 2nd best player in the 15th and Justin Murrary who transferred from Johnson Central who IMO is probabily the 3rd best guard in the 15th region Behind Justice of Shelby Valley and Slone. They are a very good team by todays standards(teams are not what they used to be). Their lack of height is probabily their biggest flaw and they have matchup problems with teams with descent Bigmen(6'7 & Up).
  20. 15th Region SF-Landon Slone-Paintsville(go to player) PF-Shane Grimm-Paintsville(garbage man) PG-Elisha Justice-Shelby Valley(run the team) SG-Jordan Hall-Prestonsburg(shooter and defender) C-Ashley Hatfield-Shelby Valley(rebounder and interior scorer) Alex Hammonds-Allen Central(Backup PG) Jarredd Newman-BetsyLayne(Backup Bigman)
  21. You could make an argument for Paintsville. Their only two losses were to #2 LexCath and the #1 team in WVA South Charleston. they have beaten Boyle,Lincoln,Tates Creek...etc..JMO Also Boone is More than deserving to be in the top 25. I don't thin June Buchanon is anywhere near the top 20. They are good but not top 20 in the state at this point. jmo.
  22. Ratings are ratings and they all seem to be different but heres my opinion. 1st Team PG/Shelvin Mack/Bryan Station SG/Landon Slone/Paintsville SF/Darius Miller/Mason Co. PF/Scotty Hopson/UHA C/Victor Moses/Henry Clay 2nd Team PG/Tate Cox/JBS SG/Johnathan Fergason/Elliott SF/Arrez Henderson/Holmes PF/Brock Moorman/Owensboro C/Dakotah Euton/Rose Hill HM 1 PG/Elisha Justice/Shelby Valley SG/Ryan Young/Lincoln Co SF/Nathan Novosel/Lex Cath PF/Darrin Ballou/Adair Co. C/Allen Murry/PRP HM 2 PG/Ethan Falkner/Elliott SG/Chad Jackson/Rose Hill SF/Johnathon Hood/Madisonville-NH PF/Desmond Johnson/Cumberland C/Aaron Morris/Madison Central Sorry I had to many in mind to just list two.
  23. I thought UConn was unbeaten, but reguardless they can play with anyone in the top 25 imo and should be rated anywhere between 10-20 reguadless of the UVA loss. They play in a tough conference and have beaten some of the more competetive teams in college football. I agree the I-AA thing has alot to do with them being left out.
