Columbus State is a good JUCO and is close to Covington so it had to be a pretty easy decision for him, in a year or two he could be playing DI along with Hill. I wonder if the school Hill commited to offered Rice a spot. BTW Congrats to him.:thumb:

Wow, getting an early start I see, I guess most DI programs want you enrolled in summer school though.

Like it or not Slone's name will be thrown into the mix if its just briefly, he was 2nd team all state this season as a Junior.

Congrats to he should contribute right away on that JV program and hopefully he can work his way up to the Varsity in a year or so. Pikeville has signed some talented recruits and are still recruiting some very talented transfers with some eligibility remaining, the coach will have them stacked in a few years.

Thats what I was thinking, I do Like Edmondson's game however. He's underrated mostly because of the hype of Hopson.

He matured more as a player this season and forced less shots this season than in previous seasons, he had a couple games where he had double figures in assists I believe and I think one game he had 17-19 rebounds, which is pretty astonishing since he is a wing player. I think the answer to your question is simple, Incosistancy. At times I think Landon worried about what others said or thought about him and actually tryied to be to unselfish at times when he could have scored, but the truth is he dosen't have as much help as most think on that team. Grimm is a garbage player and gets most the garbage points and VanHoose will have 20 one night and the next night may have 5. My opinion is if slone dosen't score his points they usually have trouble and he dosen't force as many shots as you would think and at times maybe he should. Anyway here an example of the inconsistancy I was talking about team wise: Last season they played two teams that was in the sweet 16. They beat Elliott Co.60-53 and lost nearly beat a very good SL team 57-58. Then later on in the season they lose to weak Magoffin team in their district. I don't know if thats the best example in the world but than is an example of the inconsistancy with that team.

Who would you put ahead of him, thats not listed on my list? When he plays his "A" their is not a better ALL-AROUND player in the state. Better athletes yes but as far as Defensively,shooting,passing,getting to the rim, getting to the foul line, rebounding....etc. I've never been a Paintsville fan but he's earned all the attention he gets, hes been double and triple teamed every game since he's been in HS and he still puts up those kind of number, and Paintsville played some of the top competition in the state last season. I mean everyone is free to their opinion, but i've always liked Slones game.

I couldn't agree more, at least 10 of the players are already pick before tryouts are even started and an additionally 2 or 3 are pick up by their performance IMO. I remember in 02' Quenton Smith from North Hardin was probably the 2nd or third best player at the tryout and didn't even make the squad.

Before next season their will be more names added to the list. These are the top 6 imo for next years class. Top 3: Miller-Mason Co., Hopson-UHA, Mackey-Scott County Next 3: Henderson-Holmes, Slone-Paintsville, Mack-Bryan Station a few more will sneak into the mix as well.

I think there are better unsigned players out there, and we should try and get them before signing Pettigrew...imo

Potential is the Key word when talking about Hopson. He could be better than Miller but he is not at this point. He kind of reminds me of Dante Smith from Oldham County a few years ago who plays(ed) in the NBA he has that kind of potential, wheather he'll live up to it or not is up to him, maybe he'll grow up a little with age.

That team was made up of 13 players, I believe thats how many player are chosen for this All Star t/outs.

Nice post, it's hard to compare anyone to Miller IMO. I wouldn't even go as far as to compare Mackey to him. He's that much better than everyone else in his class IMHO. Mackey would be second on my list however.

I can respect what your saying, and I'm not trying top take anything away from him at all just stating my honest opinion. If he played team ball JBS would be even more competitive and Stepp would be looked upon as a better more complete player...imo.

I can't say much about Hicks, he's impressed me everytime I've seen him but he graduated. As far as Stepp goes I don't think he's even close to Slone talent wise. Slone is versitile enough to play any posistion on the floor, he's one of the top defenders in the 15th region, he averaged 8 rebounds a game and has learned to play team basketball, and I believe he can get to the rim as good as anyone in the state. He's eaisly the best all around player in this area. Like you said we each have a right to our opinions but IMO Stepp is not even in the same league with Slone. I respect what your saying though.:thumb: I think the reason Landon's "not lived up to expectations" is because of that hyped paintsville team not reaching the sweet 16, but hes averaged around 23ppg or something like that for 3 seasons and last season nearly averaged a double double and somewhere around 4-5 assist I think, he can't do a whole lot more than what hes done.. thats jmo of why he's gone off the radar a little bit in the Mr. Basketball talk.

Just for the record, Landon Slone is BY FAR the best player in Eastern Kentucky for next season. I don't think anyone is really close to him. I'd probabily put Desmond Johnson 2nd and Tate Cox 3rd as far as Mountain players.
