mgarlich1969 Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 “(Gillispie) talked about if I would have time to wait two more weeks,” Pettigrew said after shooting around in Charlie Rawlings Memorial Gymnasium shortly after school on Wednesday. “I told him I am just going to forget all about them and just go on and look at the options I already have. Two weeks is too long. Pettigrew, who led the state in scoring with 33.6 points and 13.3 rebounds per game, is still weighing scholarship offers from Xavier, Western Kentucky and Duquesne. He is scheduled to make an official visit to Xavier (in Cincinnati) today, but as of Wednesday afternoon he wasn’t sure if he was still going to make the trip. “I have been getting behind in my work,” Pettigrew said. “School is getting pretty hard for me. I keep missing too many days of school.” Here's the link: http://www.thenewsenterprise.com/articles/2007/04/19/sports/sports01.txt
$$East-Bank$$ Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Dosen't hurt my feelings any, would have just been a wasted scholarship.
iPapi Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 ^But since the 'Cats let him get away he will blossom into a 4-year college star. J/K:D
mgarlich1969 Posted April 19, 2007 Author Posted April 19, 2007 Never seen him play, but obviously the following factors (in no particular order) came into play: 1) The current scholarship imbalance. 2) The fact that Tubby signed Ramon Harris for 2006. 3) Too many other players at the same position. 4) UK's greatest needs are center, point guard, and power forward. I hope Pettigrew has a successful career wherever he chooses to play.

HOMELESS CAMEL Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Question is, if he becames a stand out at whatever school/conference he ends up at. Will everyone bash Gillispie for not bringing him to UK?

Mr. No Name Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Didnt Louisville offer him a free ride? I dont believe so.

Will everyone bash Gillispie for not bringing him to UK? IMO Gillispie should be given a 'free ride' for a couple of years when it comes to recruiting. It's going to take a little while to balance out the roster when it comes to talent and scholarships by class. Just my opinion, but it appears he's done more on the recruiting trail in two weeks than Tubby has done in the last two years.

From what everyone has said at the different high schools where he and his staff have been to watch players, I agree.
