What is everyones thoughts on BGP's new rankings? Should Mason County still be at the top after the loss to LexCath? Here are the new rankings..

Shelby Valley beat Male and Male is that far ahead of them? Lexington Catholic beat Mason and Mason is still #1? I think the rankings are reflecting what they think the rankings should be instead of how they actually are. I'm pretty sure Male should have beaten Shelby Valley, but why penalize Shelby Valley for actually beating them? Shouldn't head to head competition between two good teams be the first priority when it comes to ranking them? That has always bugged me about the rankings on bluegrasspreps.

Yes I agree WestKy, I believe Mason County is better than LexCath, but for now the knights should be number 1. I say this and I am a born and raised native of maysville who bleeds royal blue.

That rating looks about right to me. MC is the best team in the state.:dancingpa

^No because that was what a month ago. The first or second game. And Mason and LexCath were 1 and 2 coming into that game, not 1 and 10. So, in my books, when the #2 team beats the #1 team they should jump up to #1.

But I do feel that CovCath should be ranked higher than 6th.

I believe they are fairly accurate. Although I would not put University Heights in the top 10 yet. Even though Ballard has struggled recently, I believe they are a top 10 team as well.

Shelby Valley beat Male in Pikeville and I'm sure Male may have been overlooking them some. Im more impressed by Valley taking J-Town to the wire on their home floor. I think it is hard to put a mountain team into the top 10 because the city competition is so much better. Shelby Valley maybe could be a few spots higher....looks pretty good though.:thumb:

Nothing wrong with putting LexCath at #1 at this point in time. They beat Mason County. Rankings aren't much more than an excuse to puff out your chest and proclaim "we're #1" (or whatever number your team is ranked). I put little if any stock in them.

 

Right now it can be argued that Bryan Station is playing better ball than anyone else in the Commonwealth.

I agree rankings give us something to talk about, but we all know on any given night a team can be beat.

I think Mason County is clearly the best team in the state. They lost to Lexington Catholic on Catholic's home floor in overtime not long after getting back from a trip to Hawaii and playing a grueling schedule over the last couple weeks. As for the rest of the poll, I dont see how Corbin and Hazard can be ranked ahead of June Buchanan, and I also think that Cumberland High should be in the top 25 somewhere. They haven't played a real difficult schedule as of yet, but they have games coming up against tp 25 teams and will have a chance to show what they have in the All A Classic coming up later this month
