LOL, I agree. People should just accept their losses and move on! No telling what a team would have done if a player(s) would have been able to play, could have been the same outcome, if you lose just move on people, quit making excuses, lol.

Thanks for the info on Clarksville, and I'd concede top 20, but #7? BG doesn't look like any of their wins are over a top 50 team, and both Boone County and Madison Central (unranked) pounded Adair. Are they getting too much credit because of Hopson, who must have really improved (skill-wise and attitude-wise) since last year's All "A" to warrent all the praise he's getting this year??

Adair County also beat Ballard (in Louisville) and thumped Henry Clay.

 

University Heights is getting credit, I presume, for playing a tough schedule and beating some quality teams.

And Adair beat Henry Clay without 6-6 Victor Moses which is 23 points and 11rebounds per game from their best player. Beating Ballard was a strong win though.

 

Manual finished 3rd in the KOB and defeated Fayette a team that beat Ballard by 14. Thumped Rose Hill and beat one of the 8th region favorites in Anderson County. As the season goes on, Manual will be tough for anyone to beat.

 

There will be some changes as the season goes on and the rivalry's start playing within their own regions.

You could make an argument for Paintsville. Their only two losses were to #2 LexCath and the #1 team in WVA South Charleston. they have beaten Boyle,Lincoln,Tates Creek...etc..JMO

 

Also Boone is More than deserving to be in the top 25. I don't thin June Buchanon is anywhere near the top 20. They are good but not top 20 in the state at this point. jmo.

I think Scott. Co is ranked 5th just because of last year. The only ranked team they played (Ballard 11th) they were beat. They have played out of state a lot but I don't think you can really weigh that in since we don't know how good all those teams are.

Trust me, most of the teams they played in the far-away tournaments would be top-10 teams in Kentucky.

As far as Scott Co heveryone they played out of state would be ranked in Ky except Socastee South Carolina

When they start playing these in state teams they will obviously be ready. I expect that they will be in the hunt for another 11th region title.

Boone Co. would have beaten Daviess by 10-15 if McFarland had played.

 

Daviess played several players under the weather also, so could of, should of would of is too unknown. That got beat with 5 on 5.

Yes I am a fan of this team. They have scored big numbers, but against what competition.

 

Cov Cath beat them by 14. The next best opponent they have played is probably Christian Co who has a losing record.

 

I do expect to see them back at Rupp Arena and will be cheering for them, but a trip to Rupp does not necessarily mean that a team is among the 16 best in the state.

Elliott had the ball and only down by 4 with about 2 or 3 minutes to go. Also, Elliott had the lead late in the 3rd. Elliott deserves a #11 ranking. All of you will see that once they play a team on even rest. Elliott was the only team to play 3 consecutive games in the 5th 3rd. The game before they played Covington didn't start until 9:30 at night. I hope Elliott does draw Covington Catholic in the first or second round of the state tournament. Don't get me wrong, I like Elliott's team. It is just a shame they aren't playing many teams outside the 16th region to really justify their ranking.

 

Looks like all they have on their schedule outside the 16th the rest of the way is Huntington West Va., and Mason Co. They beat Mason Co., or play them real tough, they show people something.

 

I had a friend from central KY tell me after watching Elliott and Cov Cath for the first time early in the 5th/3rd, that Elliott would wax Cov Cath. I told him that I disagreed because Cov Cath takes great care of the ball and doesn't make many mistakes. I predicted Elliott would win by a few points but that it wouldn't be a blow out. I was right about two things, 1) Cov Cath takes care of the ball, and 2) Elliott didn't blow them out. I was wrong about predicting the win for Elliott.

 

Here's the bottom line. In the 11th region, in order to be ranked in the top 20, you have to beat top 20 opponents, because you will be playing them. There are mid pack teams in the 11th that would be contenders and very possibly win in many of the other 15 regions.

 

It looks like Elliott has only one regular season chance to beat a top 20 team and that is Mason Co. who is the best team in the state. The other opportunities will be in the state tourny or the class A. When they get there first marquee win agianst a top 20 team is when they can really be "gut sucked in, chest stuck out" proud of the ranking they have been given.

 

Again I'm pullin for em, and I believe they will get some more opportunities besides Mason.

No question the soph. group they have is IMO the strength of that team, and also the future. I expect next year and following year Boone will be a force STATEWIDE in basketball. They will be even more fun to watch.:thumb:
