IMHO, this game could go either way. With the Wildcats you are never sure which team is going to show up. I just hope that Monday's game is a wake up call to them and they come out firing on all cylinders. Go Wildcats!!

Excellent post! I am sure it is going to be rough at first, but I am sure Nick will persevere and bring back some good old hard work and discipline to this program. He may not be the most popular for a while but he will be setting these boys up for life not just football. They will learn that hard work does pay off, maybe not immediately but it does in the long run. Even though, my boys have graduated I will follow the Wildcats still and be rooting for Nick all of the way! Go Wildcats!!!!

Congratulations to Nick! He is exactly what we need to get back on track. Coach Hyder is a great guy and could have been a great coach if he was just given a little support by the principal and central office. There was a road block thrown in front of him every step of the way which is not what a head coach should be dealing with. I just hope that they (principal/co) give him the support he needs. He will need this to be succeed. Good luck Nick, the Newport faithful will be supporting you along the way !

I agree with you on Nick. I also think Nick will be a good one to stick with the program and give it some consistency which is what they boys need.

You are right on the NCC win and it had been 20 years since Newport Ladycats had won the district. I believe David will step up and lead them to some more victories. He is really a nice young man. It would be great for us to meet NCC in the championship game. Both teams have played very well at times this year. Go Cats!

Reminds me of 2006 Girls Districts - Newport played Dayton first and then went onto beat Highlands in the championship game. A win no one saw coming - Newport or Highlands. It would be great for the boys to pull an upset too.

I am going to miss all 14 seniors on Newport's team. These boys have been playing together for years and it has been an absolute pleasure to watch them grow as players, teammates and as young men. I wish them all the best the world has to offer. Each and everyone one of them has done their part on the team and will be missed for sure. Go Wildcats !

Unfortunately, no. They are both teachers. As it is now, they probably average 14-15 hour days.

Newport has 2 quality men filling the AD position and I am sure they are trying to get a handle on where things were left with the previous AD leaving. The kids will come first to both of these men, always. I am sure they are working on it, just not ready to make any announcements. Go Wildcats!

Great effort by both teams, too bad there had to be a loser in this one. Good luck in Richmond, NCC ! Make the 9th region proud.

The games tonight are 6pm Newport VS Dayton and 8pm NCC VS St Henry. Both games should be good ones to watch. Good luck to all !

I agree with 20/20 Hindsight, I to am glad to see that those boys have been able to win someone over outside of Newport. These are "our boys" and of course we are going to believe in them no matter what. We know they have it in them - we just have to keep hoping they bring it to each and every game. When they play together, they win and that is great to see! We have had some very good ball players over the years, but it just doesn't seem like they give it their all 100% of the time and when we get down, forget it. We help to dig that hole deeper. It would be great to see this team make it to Richmond. Go Wildcats !! :dancingpa
