Newport vs. Highlands Predictions

Featured Replies

Highlands is well disciplined! That is something Newport lacks but they are a way more atheletic team by far. It depeneds on which newport team shows up!

Highlands by 9

This is another interesting district matchup. There are quite a few of them this year in N. Ky. I lean toward Highlands in this game but I do not consider it much of an upset if Newport wins. Both teams have been a little inconsistent in tough games so ti depends on which team shows up for both of them. I will say Highlands by 3.

Will there be any internet or radio coverage?

I think the close game with Dayton will end up helping Newport in this game. I believe the Cats will come out with such intensity (that they lacked in Monday's game) and will get out to an early lead. I'll say Newport by 8

I really don't see Newport keeping this one close. They have always struggled against Highlands because they are well disciplined and play good defense. Highlands won the first meeting by I believe 18 or 19. I don't think they win by that much this time, but I see them winning again.

Highlands 64

Newport 50

Highlands by 7.

Newport is that team that can sneak up on you. Willie will do his best to slow this game down and sit in the half court and grind it out. But be careful with Newport

Basically Highlands has the more disciplined and Newport has some god athletes so the outcome IMO can go either way.

This is one time I hope you are wrong Eta.

Why does everyone say Highlands isn't ATHLETIC? IMO they are disciplined AND athletic:idunno:

Special K= athletic

George Grote= athletic

Zach Lother=athletic

Tyler Grubbs= (big) and athletic

etc...etc...

Have to agree with CatBird's first ever post .....welcome! Not suggesting that Newport isn't athletic but not necessarily more so than Highlands. Not sure where that comes from? I do believe and have stated that Newport is a solid team, but not sure they are deep enough to make a run at HHS. They would need to play solid D, shoot extremely well and not get foul trouble .....probably too tall an order this time around.

IMHO, this game could go either way. With the Wildcats you are never sure which team is going to show up. I just hope that Monday's game is a wake up call to them and they come out firing on all cylinders.

Go Wildcats!!
