Hate? I don't hate anyone. I was just stating my opinion.

Housley is not a top 10 player. He is not a team player at all and Holmes will find that out and he won't even come in as a 6th man. He and his mom are all about him. I apologize if I sound a little bitter, but this is one of the best things to happen to the Newport Basketball program.

Newport should win this one with or without those (2) key players, who IMO are just distractions to the other players. I believe there are only 1 or 2 players on this team that care about their own stats. The other 40 or so boys are there to play as a team and I don't think this will be their last win. They played much better last week against Lloyd even though you couldn't tell that from the score. They just need a good 'ol dose of confidence. They have the talent and the teamwork. Go Wildcats !!

Newport could have and should have won this game. Newport had 4 turnovers that resulted in 4 scores by LLoyd. LLoyd played much better than Newport and they just kept plugging away. Good job, Juggs!

Amen to "Hitball", that is surely what Newport needs. They need more than 2-3 boys that like to hit. Who wouldn't want to hit when you are allowed?

Newport's coach is not the problem. It would be a shame if they start looking for a new coach. Mr Hyder is a great coach and a great person. These boys should step up and be proud to play for him.

Whitley was that good! Sure, some of Newport's players didn't play to their potential, but Whitley was just so much stronger. I think Coach Hyder will get these boys going in the right direction, these boys don't like to lose and all had winning seasons as freshman. They just have to keep playing hard and wins will come. Newport has a strong senior class and once all of them ( yes, all of them) step up and lead the others like they should we will start to win.

Newport needs to come up with their heads held high and forget about the Bellevue game. What's done is done - keep looking forward. They need to get a few things clicking and that will give them the confidence they need. These young men are very talented and work hard. Now if they could just do it all together, they will go far. Go Wildcats !!!

I believe the roster they had listed was last year's. Some of the names didn't match up to the pictures. It had Buckler as a Sophomore.

Newport 21 Bellevue 20 I think the Wildcats will be ready after the Conner scrimmage. This year's team is a very determined bunch and won't take losing very well. They just have to hang tough and not let anything or anyone get them down.

Arkansas had missed some practices without calling and when he returned he was asked to leave.

I don't see a problem with girls playing with boys in the elementary grades. If nothing else, it toughens the girls up. That is the girls that really want to play and aren't intimidated by the boys. My daughter started playing in the 3rd grade with boys and was able to hold her own and to this day she still plays in a co-ed league where 95% of them are males. It's up to us parents to keep pushing our girls to be strong. Newport does need someone who is willing to stick it out because it will not be pretty for a while.
