PepRock01 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I know that the season is long over now, but I have been thinking about my own team's program and the players that will be leaving at the end of the year and who I am going to miss watching the most. What say you?
PepRock01 Posted February 4, 2009 Author Posted February 4, 2009 For me, as a Shamrock, I am really going to miss Tim Phillips and Brock Messina. Don't get me wrong, Jordan Whiting was a beast but there are a few moments that stand out for me with the other two. For Tim, it is mostly all 3 of his seasons as the starter at RB for the Rocks. Few players I have watched over the years had the heart and determination that he has had. On top of all that Tim is Trinity's all time leading rusher and he did it all with a 5'5, 175 pound frame. Tim will be missed. Brock's claim to fame, I have to admit, comes mostly from a huge hit he laid on Deuce Finch in the 2008 Semi-Final between Trinity and St.X. Deuce is a beast of a RB a the high school level and in that game there was a hit where he didn't just take Deuce down...he flattened him! That was a moment I will never forget. Jordan was overall the better LB but he didn't have that particular hit!
Commander 25 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I think that Bell Co will miss Monte Merrick hard to replace All State kicker and punter.
sidelinedoc Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 As a Raceland Ram fan, I am going to miss Boyles, Denton, Carver, Tolliver, Selvage, Watson, Logan, Chinn, Preston & Baldridge.
SHAMROCK69 Posted February 4, 2009 Posted February 4, 2009 I was told this morning that Jim Tressel was at Trinity yesterday. He wanted to be sure that Jordan Whiting was still coming to Columbus. I'm sure going to miss watching him play.
brad_bchs Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 I think that Bell Co will miss Monte Merrick hard to replace All State kicker and punter. I'm definately going to miss watching Merrick play. I'm going to miss just watching him during warm ups!.
rebelmom Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 As a Boyle fan, Ben Slone, he was awsome! Plus, the entire Senior class. They stuck together for years and it showed this year. All of them are amazing kids.
billwilliams70 Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 FC is going to miss what Josh Carter has brought to the field this past year. It's going to be a tough task to replace him. I've spoken with my son and he's been approached about losing some weight and possibly moving to that position. He played last season at 280 and has since lost 16 pounds hoping to move from DT to MLB (he's always wanted to play that spot). He'll be a junior next year. Later.
malachicrunch Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Adam (Lumpy) Dempsey. I have been following him closely since his 1st year on the Blue team. Great kid. Great player. :thumb:
Qryche11 Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Im going to miss seeing Ollie Head for the Birds laying the wood. Cant wait to see who steps up as next year's henchman.
Voice of Reason Posted February 7, 2009 Posted February 7, 2009 Brady Slusher from Beechwood. Great leader on the field. He sacrificed a lot for the team by moving in to play offensive tackle his senior year. Always hustling till the whistle blows. My favorite play of the season was one long TD run where over a 30 yard span he singlehandedly took out the pursuit with three downfield blocks, including a total decleater on the last guy, and then was running full speed just behind the running back when he crossed the goal line. There is no doubt in my mind there isn't another offensive tackle in the state with the speed and athleticism to do what he did on that play. Good luck to Brady at UC as a preferred walk on. They are going to love him!

Thomas Magnum Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 I am going to miss alot of players, the nameless players who work their tailends off and after HS will never step foot on the field again. You see those guys go out every Friday night and work hard for the simple fun of playing the game, some not getting in the game but for a play or two. Although they will never be named here on BGP they will never forget the feeling of being a part of the team and win or lose know that they were a part of TEAM. They are my HEROS!!!!! Good luck guys!!!!
